Even a place as safe as japan there are insane people. My hearts and prayers go out to everyone.
This is the studio that did lucky star, k-on, clanned, haruhi suzumiya and helped make tenchi.

You can ban guns, knifes, acid, and gasoline. But unfortunately you can't ban crazy.
Thanks for the tip. I've posted this to the front page.

I don't believe I've seen anything from them, even still I can't even begin to imagine what KyoAni fans must be feeling. The whole situation is a tragedy. Saddens me how one person could do something so cruel and horrific.

I've heard great things about A Silent Voice, even before this incident. Definitely want to see it one day.

Fortunately, the nut's motive seemed to be simply "They stole my unsolicited story!", with typical Japanese fan understatement--
Lately, the mood in mainstream grownup working Japan has been increasingly ugly toward anime fandom in general, playing up horror stories of unemployed "shut-in" fans, blaming them--and anime, idol fandom and the Internet in general--for the Recession problems ("They won't work!") and lack of dating that's been slowing the birthrate ("They're afraid of real girls!"), and giggling over what they'd like to do to such fans, rather like 30's Berlin used to chuckle over what they'd love to do to the Jews.
If some other nut hadn't decided to MJGA by trying to destroy the Anime Menace, it'll happen soon, and maybe not with mere arson...
