Tim Conway RIP

Post by Daniel » May 14th, 2019, 2:14 pm

Another great loss. :(

Tim will probably be remembered most for his work on the The Carol Burnett Show, for myself it would have be his voice work on SpongeBob as Barnacle Boy Man. Now the duo are reunited once again.

From Wikipedia:

"...He has lent his voice to other TV shows including The Simpsons, Disney spin-off Hercules, Lloyd in Space, The Wild Thornberrys, Cybill, What's New, Scooby-Doo?, The Proud Family, Scooby-Doo! Pirates Ahoy!, Caillou, and What's with Andy?. He also narrated The Secret Shortcut in Reading Rainbow and hosted The Flintstones' 25th Anniversary Celebration...

...He starred in Disney films such as The World's Greatest Athlete (1973), The Apple Dumpling Gang (1975), Gus (1976), and The Apple Dumpling Gang Rides Again (1979)...

...Starting in 2003, Conway teamed up with good friend Don Knotts again to provide voices for the direct-to-video children's series Hermie and Friends, which continued until Knotts' death in 2006. Conway continued to do the series...

...In 2012-13, he voiced the character 'Mulch' in DreamWorks' Dragons: Riders of Berk series..."

"What's a Tim Conway?"

"Uhhh.. about 120 lbs"

He was great in The Simpsons. Although the finale just aired, I have faith they'll have a remembrance at the end of Sundays repeat. That's one thing they almost always do. (they did zilch for Mr. & Mrs. Bush, sadly)

"Uh, we're gonna need a recipe for that..."

RIP, Tim. You made a certain brand of comedy that much funnier. :)

Harvey Korman on a late night talk show (I think it was Letterman; maybe Leno) at the time of the Flintstones movie release:

Host: You always had trouble keeping a straight face on The Carol Burnett Show...

Korman (Feigning furious anger): Everyone always has to point that out! You try working next to a comic genius like Tim Conway and see if you can keep a straight face!!!

Yep. Tim was so good. RIP.

And the non-Disney "The Private Eyes" (1980), with Don Knotts--
Sacred to a generation of 80's movie/HBO watchers, to whom Conway educated as to the finer habits of Wookelars.

He was extremely funny in "World's Greatest Athlete" and "McHale's Navy," but his stuff from "The Carol Burnett Show" is comic GOLD.
