Looks like it's gonna be pretty intense.

Samurai Jack with Dinosaurs?
While it does look somewhat interesting, might be a bit too bloody for me...

Re: Primal
So, apart from Sony still pimping its "Hotel Transylvania" franchise for a house brand, is anyone still taking Tartakovsky seriously as an "emerging artistic talent" anymore, like they were back in the 90s' when nobody knew what to make of Samurai Jack?
Y'know, like Lucas with that first "Clone Wars" cartoon, or when he was supposed to do that Dark Crystal sequel?

Re: Primal
He's been an established name for more than 20 years, so he'd hardly be an "emerging" talent anymore.
Hotel T 3 is also pure "Gendy," by the way. Of the three, it's definitely the one where his fingerprints show the most (in a Powerpuff Girls kind of way).

Yep; Captain Erica is a Genndy Tartakovsky drawing, realized in CG form.
He was an 'emerging talent' wayyy back on 2 Stupid Dogs .. and then massively contributed toward building the Cartoon Network brand thoughout the 1990s, which was the reason he was given free rein on Samurai Jack and Clone Wars; he'd earned that.
I was excited to see what he might've done with his sequel to The Dark Crystal .. but it was not to be. Ditto with his Popeye feature at Sony.
I very much enjoyed Sym-Bionic Titan .. and hold out hope that, someday, CN will give Tartakovsky (and as much of the S-BT crew as can be gotten together) an additional 'season' -- or more! -- which can properly wrap-up the story .. as was done for Samurai Jack, a couple years ago.
But in the meantime, I look forward to Primal.

Re: Primal
The first 10 episodes were shown at the Annecy Festival. No dialogue in the first episode and possibly the rest. Well, he is a caveman after all, not to mention Samurai Jack didn't have much dialogue either. Makes sense.

Re: Primal
This continues to look absolutely insanely nuts!
And savage, and raw. And brutal. Very, very brutal!
Is it wrong that I’m kind of looking forward to this more than The Dark Crystal (the new Netflix prequel, not the Genndy sequel that didn’t happen)? It’s just nice and cool to see traditional animation of quality again, whatever the subject and however violent and, yes, primal it is.
That said, Crystal is dropping now, so there’s time to see that before this, quite literally, hits! Hopefully if both that and Primal do well, they might make more and possibly that sequel may yet see the light of Netflix's screens...?
