Re: Man of Steel, Justice League and DC MOVIES
I've discovered my biggest interest in the Batman vs. Superman fight was relegated to the two "battling" tie-in cereals:
http://blog.generalmills.com/2016/01/ba ... -comeback/
Batman's has chocolate-strawberry flavor (which you'd think someone would have come up with earlier), while Superman's is an appropriately inoffensive caramel-vanilla. And no marshmallows, which is refreshing.
As for the movie itself, it's the movie NOBODY wanted to be a hit, leaving us to battle the crazed hordes of overly devoted fans who insist on trumpeting the movie to the skies for their own personal issues.
It's the Frozen of superhero movies.

The Frozen of super hero movies? That's a laugh.
The better analogy would probably be Phantom Menace.

Re: Man of Steel, Justice League and DC MOVIES
12 Years a Slave and Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides immediately come to mind regarding Zimmer after-thought scores. But even Zimmer himself seems to realize that superheroes aren't inspiring his best music, which may be why he's "retiring" from superhero movies:Dan wrote:Interesting for Vernadyn to point out the music because this is the first time I can say that I felt a score by Hans Zimmer was essentially an after-thought.

What does this mean for the music of the DC cinematic universe? More music from the improbably monikered Junkie XL, of course! (In my opinion, he's basically a mini-Zimmer without the flashes of inspiration that Zimmer himself occasionally evinces.)
My thoughts about that theme went quickly from "That's neat" when I first heard it to "Please stop" once it played for the fifth time--especially since it played the same way every time. If that theme is going to be used in the Wonder Woman movie, I hope that the composer alters or expands it significantly.James wrote:I liked the WW theme, though they went a little overboard playing it every time she was on screen.

No, fans hated Phantom Menace--Dan wrote:The Frozen of super hero movies? That's a laugh.

We're talking about the fanboy movies you can't kill with garlic and crosses.

And fans hate Batman vs. Superman as well.
You should've seen the silent rage everyone had at WonderCon every time the film got mentioned. Which made being around the DC booth uncomfortable at times as the trailer played on occasion.

Seems WB isn't deaf to the negative reaction to BVS...

It's actually a lot worse than Phantom Menace for several reasons. As I say:Dan wrote:And fans hate Batman vs. Superman as well.

And it's still nicer than anything Ben's ever said about Superman Returns.

Apparently it's up in the air about whether Jesse Eisenberg returns as Lex:

I have even higher hopes for Apocalypse now. (If that's possible lol.). Movie/comic fans obviously want something with real plot, character development and blood, sweat, tears. As Beast says: "The world needs the X-Men!"
BvS falling on its face will leave plenty of room for Apocalypse to do even better than DOFP!!!

Yep: They're believing their own trailers, and if it's not "DC's Guardians of the Galaxy" yet, they're going to make it one.Dacey wrote:Seems WB isn't deaf to the negative reaction to BVS...

Other unconfirmed sites are speculating that Zack Snyder may sit out the JL movie for "personal reasons" of it being too big a project for him to take on fresh after finishing this one, but we'll wait for bigger sites to confirm it.
(He says "Personal reasons", we say "BUS-teeeedd!")

Considering it begins filming in like two weeks, that is extremely unlikely.

Tarantino was supposed to write an essay on why he felt Superman Returns was a fantastic movie. I'm still waiting on that.Dacey wrote:And it's still nicer than anything Ben's ever said about Superman Returns.
