I don't understand why they just didn't make him a realistic looking chipmunk all the way if they went to the trouble of giving him a tail.

I liked Rhythm & Hue's version... I am biased though because I worked there

Are they human kids now? With tails?

It wouldn't surprise me. I read about a Japanese animated series not long ago where they suddenly (ad stupidly) changed the magical horses in to regular school girls, and yet they still had horse ears and tails. Are they human kids now? With tails?

Watched the premiere yesterday because I'm a fan of Alvin but mainly out of curiosity. Y'know... it wasn't that bad. Thought it was pretty harmless and enjoyed the stories. No real potty humor to be found, which I'm a little surprised at. Of course it was only the first episode. Thing is, I do not like the new designs. At all. Way too human like. Didn't like them when they were first revealed and seeing them full on didn't help. Just weird. They even make the theatrical versions look cute in comparison. And Alvin - jeans! Ack!
If there's one silver lining, it's that original Dave is back! It was so nice to hear him and not Earl. Kind of sad, huh? If only the new designs weren't so radical I think I could've loved this so much more.

Sorry to be "that guy," but the "original" Dave passed away many years ago.

I don't think he meant "original" in that way. Sounds like he was just relieved to have the regular voice return instead of them getting Jason to continue being 'the' Dave.

Eh that could still go either way.
I watched todays episode and it was OK. I liked the Theodore plot even if it was a rehash of the first movie.

Nice to see they used the 80s song for this! I agree they look like human kids.

That Road Chip trailer was so, so, so horrible...it just got worse and worse the more I watched it. A word to the wise: if you haven't seen it yet, stay away!!! Trust me on this one! Lots of scatological stuff, stupid buzz phrases, lots of "singing" (or whatever you'd call it when they sing ). Oh, and one more thing: another rendition of "Baby's got back!"
Do. Not. Watch. It.
Or if you do, try not to look DIRECTLY at it! You'll thank me later lol!!

You can’t just have your characters announce how they feel! That makes me feel angry!

Vi, you know you're actually encouraging people to watch it when you do that, right?
Honestly, though, I think the Chipmunks movies are fine for what they are: harmless kids entertainment that's actually for kids. Seriously, I would've adored these things as a child.
It's easy to make fun of them--gosh knows I've done so twice already today--, but apart from the characters' appearances, they really aren't that different from the original cartoons (It's not like The Chipmunk Adventure, which I love, doesn't have its fair share of somewhat questionable humor).
At the very least, they're certainly better than the "furry human children" pictured in a post above.
