Re: 2014 Oscar Contest - RESULTS ARE IN!
Other than placing low in the contest ( ) I thought this year's Oscars were a lot more enjoyable and fun than they have been the last few years prior. Ellen did a pretty damn good job.

Ellen didn't really do much actual hosting.

Me, I thought Ellen was "off." She flubbed a few line deliveries, and that pizza thing went on too long. The evening threatened to just become "Ellen doing stand-up" or "Ellen being irreverent," rather than "Ellen hosts the Oscars." She did have some funny lines, though.

Honestly, I would've very much liked to see Seth MacFarlane return...although I understand that the man does need sleep sometimes.
But seriously, he was WAY funnier last year. I still get amused when I think of Flight being re-enacted with sock puppets. The only thing I'm likely to remember about Ellen years from now is...well, the pizza thing.

Re: 2015 Oscar Contest
This year, I'm hoping to finish no worst than third last, and/or at least ahead of James' wife.

Re: 2015 Oscar Contest
Bombshell drops...
I'm not a hundred percent sure I'm going to be with you guys on Sunday night.
As you may know, the only way to catch the Oscars now in the UK is to subscribe to the Sky Movies channels, the least being to take on a month's worth of the package. Yes, this means we can record a few other movies to our DVR that we've missed recently, but to be honest the cost outweighs the interest I have in any of the major films this year. I am tempted to drop the dough to see NPH hosting, but at this point it's a but much just for three hours of TV.
If only they offered a pay per view option like with their sports events...a fiver for the Oscars would be great, as we keep requesting, but no...it's much more than that for the monthly access and a toss up on whether we go for it this year, considering the films (nothing I have seen this year really comes close to being truly Oscar worthy).
True, it could be a close race, but many of them look quite dead certs too. I'll see how we go nearer to Sunday (or cut-off is Friday evening before we can't get it), but at the mo this looks like the first one I'll miss...
