(Well, that pretty well confirms the "Remake of Country Bears Movie" insider rumors...)"Walter is the kind of guy who faints when he sees Kermit," Bobin told the magazine. "Walter has a little bit of a self-confidence issue because he's the only person like him that he's seen aside from the Muppets," Segel explained. "His dream is to meet the Muppets and be around people who are like him."

Wow...this actually looks fun and feels proper old school. That publicity shot, minus Segal, could be from the classic era. My only hope is they get Oz back for Fozzie at least: the new guy can do Piggy great, but his Fozzie isn't real enough for me. Then again, maybe a decent script is what is needed and, though it kind of rests on some old themes, it does sound like its more traditional than we've had in a while.
With the cast and crew's involvement, perhaps this means the movie has a real shot at decent box office, meaning we could get another one or two movies from it that would move away from repeating themselves. Bring it on!

We already have The Final Destination and Fast and Furious to confuse everybody. Not to mention the Rambo films (First Blood, Rambo: First Blood Part II, Rambo III, and Rambo.)
Though an AvPvM movie might not be a good idea, because of the sole fact that Miss Piggy would kill all the aliens and predators in the first five minutes. Miss Piggy vs. Ripley, on the other hand...

Re:
The new idea is not to make your sequel SOUND like a sequel (although FD and F&F were from that other fear of never again using 'IV" in your title)--Vernadyn wrote:We already have The Final Destination and Fast and Furious to confuse everybody.
Although in Disney's case, they're selling what they think they can sell: The fact that somebody's making a Muppet movie at all because they want to repopularize the franchise, and that all good fans must presumably make a pilgrimage to see their return and teach the next generation--
And not opting to promote a title that might call unnecessary attention to the stupid, lame, desperate, slacker-generation "Greatest Movie" Country-Bears storyline with the '10-celebrity cameos nobody cares about. The script, at this point, is merely a technicality, and is downplayed accordingly.

It WAS one of Lisa Henson's official Disney-department ideas for spinning off existing Muppet characters into movie projects, but with the Dark Crystal sequel constantly in and out of production, that's looking less likely.
Right now, the entire Muppet future is riding on the main-Muppet movie, and Disney's already hedged their bets by moving it back from Christmas to Thanksgiving, looking for a bit of Tangled lucky-charm--
At least we don't have worry about it being crushed by Tintin anymore.

Re: The NEW Muppet Movie
Can we get back to the topic of the muppets movie?
