I actually really enjoy this movie. Disney had wanted to make the tale of Chanticleer in the 1960s but it never got the go ahead for being too expensive. It's an interesting subject for Bluth to have produced: doubtless his version is nothing like what would have come out of Disney's, but it's a good stab that often gets overlooked.
The only things to drag it down are the very obvious matting in the live-action/animation scenes, almost painful after Roger Rabbit's seamless effects, and the end credit scroll which almost makes up a quarter of the running time!
