Ben, many things. Firstly, thanks for the new Enchanted makeover for the front page! Though it is odd Horton didn't last very long...shouldn't the site have been Enchanted when the movie came to theaters (or was it, I can't remember)? The blue sky is nice but I'd prefer a nightime background myself, since the title was usually placed on the New York night sky. Still, there's nothing wrong with it, I'm just glad this was done anyway.
Thanks so much for the behind the scenes stuff! WOW! Are you the one doing the interviewing? My favorite quote so far is from Bill Kelly: "Most stories about innocents find their humor at the expense of the innocent. I really wanted to write a story where the humor is ultimately at the expense of the cynic."
I didn't really think that was done in Enchanted, but maybe it was, I'll have to see it again with that in mind. And I read that Doug Short has Giselle going after Narissa because she grew that way, but it felt forced to me because I knew it was done purposely to have the heroine fight the villain and do the saving for once, not because it actually flowed well and she naturally felt she should take on something so dangerous. I don't think Giselle had enough happen to her to grab a sword and go after a dragon! Maybe if the scene had been longer like it originally was, but they cut out scenes of her climbing the tower, (and probably showing her fear, which would have been more natural and believable instead of showing up and stabbing) because it scared kids. Then again, I didn't think Amy was all that natural as a princess all the time, either, while I know every other person in the world thought she was...
Of course, I wanted Giselle to go after the dragon, I just don't think it was handled well enough to make it look like she naturally thought to do it and was ready to do it. What's worse is she didn't even defeat the villain, Pip did. At least she saved the man.
Anyway, I wanted to know about your pop-up book idea. You said you presented it to Disney a long time ago? Well, what I don't get is...how could they just use it suddenly for this movie? Were they really allowed to keep your idea without paying you for it and use it when the time was right? Or did they just happen to come up with the same idea, and they forgot all about what you presented? Or the people you presented to didn't work on this movie? Did they even take your idea...? Yes, lots of questions, I want to know what you think, and what happened.
