Why do some people hate the HSM films so much?

I mean, everyone's entitled to their own opinion, but they've always struck me as fun, harmless entertainment.

I don't hate them at all - but three sequels for any film and the well is probably long run dry.

Um, yes--Since 3 most likely ends with a graduation, Disney wants to make a "New class" 4th...WITH NEW ACTORS. Cheaper ones.
That they don't have to be forced to upgrade to theatrical features to recoup their actor-salary budgets that inflated past their control back when they were simply supposed to be made-for-cable movies.
Yes, we're looking at you, Hairspray Star Who Shall Remain Nameless.

...Because some of us are old enough to have seen real musicals in our lives, and don't think someone invented them just now? :P

Just think, by number 8, Zac and Vanessa can be the parents!

Please, Ben, DON'T encourage them (Disney)!

It was bad enough seeing Hayley Mills play grown-up versions of her Parent Trap characters!

I'm just very uninspired by the latest Disney/Pixar news.

Just far too much retreading and remixing there.

Frankly, I think audiences SHOULD be more demanding and Disney ought to grow a new pair, or at least let the old pair settle down in the pouch again!

This is ridiculous. Disney's dead. Pull the life-support on the company. The new production slate is pathetic.

I'm interested in almost everything in the disney/pixar news so I disagree with your Disney is dead comment. More like, Disney was in a Coma, and it's coming out of it soon.

Yeah, there's a LOT of variety in there George.

And The Diz is a Biz after all. We can't have any good stuff (and you know there will be) without the economics also making sense. If we need High School and Pirates 4 so that they can breathe easier as Keane uses up time and money to make his Rapunzel look right, then so be it.
