I've said it before and I'll say it again: If Heath Ledger's performance as the Joker is even half as good as Mark Hamill's, then we're pretty much guaranteed to see a good movie. Someone did a feature length Batman Begins fanfilm (I guess to try and bridge the gap between it and Dark Knight) but I turned it off after the first five minutes. The technical aspects of it were okay but the dialogue was laughably bad. I guess that goes to show why these films take so long to develop, they have to get the script just right.

The new trailer being mentioned above:

I like it...he has some good intonation twists in his voice that goes back to Joker's real psyche...a totally unbalanced nut. "Like me!" and "Evening...Commissioner" are delivered with a real sense of malice tinged with the feeling that he's bored (probably the reason Joke causes most of the mayhem he does) and unhinged.
Bale is still taking it all too seriously, Caine is still being overly leaned on to deliver the big stirring, actorly speeches.
I think it feels much more like Burton's 1989 flick than Begins, though, oddly...

I was sort of torn on Begins. Part of me loved it for its kick ass storytelling and acting. It definitely felt fresh, like a new start.
however, the "re-inventing" of the look and feel of the series felt incredibly forced to me. Like it was trying really, really hard to make us forget about the homo-erotic Batman that killed the franchise back in the 90s. I understand it is based on the newer comics, but I didn't totally buy it.
I hope this movie can convince me the new style holds up. Cast is great though. And Ledger will do just fine. He's a great actor. I never got what all the hate was about in the first place.
