On the dvd of
Shrek 2, there's a little featurette where Ben Stiller talks about
Madagascar.

 Just watched the trailer.
It's short, but the animation looks great so far.

 I
love the tiger, in design and movement. Some sweet motion in general going on in that trailer. I still think it has potential, so long as the pop culture stuff and body humor is kept to a minimum. Might be a tall order for a Dreamworks CGI film, but I'll still hope.

I like that they're doing it in CinemaScope, something that the studio hasn't done since "Spirit".

Is it me, or does the animation look really cheap?
The characters aren't bad, but I hate watching this stuff on the lo-res clips we have on the net sometimes because you can't see the detail and without the detail, it looks el-cheapo.
Where did you get the CinemaScope specs from WJ, I didn't notice anything approaching those dimensions though it would indeed be cool if they went that wide for a kung-fu movie...something fitting in that.
Quite obvious to use Kung-Fu Fighting as a music choice, though it seems to fit this, probably because it's mainstream commercial animation.

Well, it at least looks like its CinemaScope when I watch it in the standard format (not HD) on my computer. But it could just be the way it plays on my screen.

Looks like standard 1.78:1 to me. I'd be very surprised if it was 2.35:1. It would be very cool, but I'd be very surprised.

About the new trailer - didn't they do the 'flying through the air and screaming in slo-mo' gag in Bee Movie?
