Elstree Film Festival II
No doubt you caught my shamless plug on the front page of Views last week.
Well, I jumped up to "broadcaster" today by making my first "appearance" on a radio program!
Check it out here:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/aod/networks ... e_counties#
It will either start playing right off, or you'll find it under "Listen Again" below the Local Radio banner in the right column. Once you click that there's a pop-up and you're looking for "Breakfast - The day's news with Roberto Perrone and Katherine Boyle".
It plays with RealPlayer and according to the file I am on between 03:00:00 to 03:15:00 (there's a bit of a lead in and I come back for a joke after it seems I'm finished).
Help!
Now...I wouldn't mind a copy of this...but RealPlayer seems to be a little hard to capture streams from. I looked in my cache and temp folders but can't see what it would be or if it's even there. I have been through all the files and the "How To" guide and can't seem to be able to save it. It only keeps reverting back to the BBC page to play it from.
Anyone got any ideas? Ideally I'd like to save from 03:00:00 to the end of the show since they reference it again I think. It only seems to be up for the day to make way for the next show, which is on from 6am GMT tomorrow (Weds) so I need to find a quick fix - there must be a way to save something like this?
I tried Windows Sound Recorder, but it comes out all fuzzy, so I'm looking for some kind of direct rip.
Anyhoo...thought you might find it fun to hear my voice!

Hmm, sounds like an interesting voice Josh!!
I sound a lot like a non-canadian Mike Myers myself, down to the laugh.
I'm gonna take a look at it, Ben.
I'll try and record it for ya...no promises though (audio recorders are a pain in the..), so anyone feel free to try as well.
Edit: Can't get that damn audio recorder to work properly, sorry Ben!

Thanks guys, especially James for managing to capture that!
I spent most of the night trying to make my recorder work with it...eventually plugged in my DV camera from the headphones output to get anything at all. Now I can junk that - James' recording is much better - thanks!!
And...yes Rand...I'm British, guv'nor!
Though I do a mean American Disney trailer voice, and have actually been payed to narrate some promo things over here in that style!

What I don't get is that so many critics say it has "no story." Please. The relationship between Indy and Short Round is very touching and IMHO beats out anything you see in Raiders OR Last Crusade. Not that those films didn't have good emotional moments, but it's the basic Bond-ian "lose the woman you love/have her betray you/have her die/have her almost die" thing.
Of course he gets together with Marion at the end of Raiders....but by Last Crusade (Unlike TOD, doesn't it take place after Raiders?) she's no where in site. Ditto Willie Scott. (although I always like to pretend that he married her and they adopted Short Round. )
And of course we all know what happened with Dr. Elsa Schneider.... Classic Bond thing going on there,, especially with Sean Connery's presence. He and Ford had such great chemistry.
It really feels like there's a real a male-bonding thing going on in the Indy films--father/son relationship, relationship with Sallah, Marcus Brody, etc....can't trust any of the women however.
The roller-coaster/mine car race was great too!!

Sure, it may not be the best of the Indy movies, but that opening 20-25 minutes is just so overpacked it's outrageous!

You can’t just have your characters announce how they feel! That makes me feel angry!

Yes, and the bridge. I like it.
Would have been great if Indy had had a daughter in the new one. Finally a woman that he would have been "stuck with" forever and one that he would have had to care about and keep safe.
I get the feeling that with Shia we're going to end up as if Young Indy and Old Indy were just playing in the same time/space/movie.
