Why, so it did!

That means a newspaper article I just read got it wrong too, since they described Mackenzie Crook getting the part in Pirates after Johnny Depp recommended him from Neverland!

I would have thought Mackenzie would have got the part from being noticed in The Office.

POTC: AWE wasn't as great the first two films but it did much better then Shrek the Third.
I did enjoy the beginning of the film and the end but didn't like the middle when almost everyone double crosses each other.

Grade:

POTC: AWE B-

Too many sub-plots, bad story flow, crappy resolution of the Will/Elizabeth relationship, and overall confusing as hell. It lacked the sense of fun that made the first film fantastic and the second one enjoyable.

I could go into more detail, of course, but that's pretty much it in a nutshell. (I must say though, it was a VERY pretty movie. I enjoyed the visuals more than I enjoyed any of the scenes!)

Some things made absolutely no sense
The death of Lord Becket...so, why did he give up again?
Some things we're just lame
Tia Dalma turning out to be the love of Davy Jones & Calypso, I liked her character in the 2nd one, hated her in this one.

Hm.... it was.... a muddled movie.... and way too long...
The ending pulled it off, so that was the big plus for it, because it had the problem telling too much stories, showing too much bad acting, and such a muddled plot/character motivations you can't really follow, or don't want to follow.
My brother said to this: "Looks like this is the only way for Hollywood to make a finale: Putting as much plots, characters and a dipsy-doodle plot which goes from there to there.
But overall, I must say, it was an entertaining (sometimes very funny) movie and had some interesting ideas. And the Pirates movies always get me to like the movie after the credits.
Wonder how I'll like it on second viewing.

The death of Lord Becket...so, why did he give up again?
Oh yeah, that was totally stupid.
The death of Elizabeth's father was badly done and confusing as well.
Tia Dalma turning out to be the love of Davy Jones & Calypso, I liked her character in the 2nd one, hated her in this one.
AWE just completely ruined Tia for me. I loved how she was so out there (yet fun) in the second, but the way they expose her here wrecks the whole mystery of the character. And the bit where she turns into a giant or whatever was pretty cheesy.
Nice to be able to have an intelligent conversation about the movie's bad points on here - my siblings keep telling me to shut up, as they didn't see anything wrong with it.
