I've seen this before somewhere. Using animated characters in such PSAs was a big thing in the 1980s.

I doubt they will ever release them, but Goofy and co were leading the pack as early as 1981 in special 16mm shorts that went out to schools. Now that would make a rather "special" DVD! :)

I'm pretty sure I watched this as a kid....cool seeing it again! :)

I'm all for these types of PSA's. Theyr'e a very positive resource for kids IMHO.

Also, I don't know if anyone saw, but I posted some old commercials from 1987/1988 on one of the video threads via YouTube, and they had those old Popeye PSA's! Remember those?? :D

They're really funny IMO. 'Cause when Popeye first came out in the 30s or whatever it was, I don't think anyone saw him doing PSA's....

There's this one about keeping babies away from houseplants (don't ask! )

He actually sings:

Under no circumstance
Should you eat houseplants,
I'm Popeye the sailer man!! :)

Then in an anti-smoking one, he tells his nephews not to smoke, and one of them points out that his pipe is only for "tootin'!"

(it's at the end at this set of commercials)

You can’t just have your characters announce how they feel! That makes me feel angry!
