You can’t just have your characters announce how they feel! That makes me feel angry!

I think it's fine to leave this as a 'free-form' favorites thread, rather than as a poll with 'set' choices, which won't encompass everyone's favorites, anyway.
---------
One of my favorite animated feature openings is Beauty and the Beast. The opening 'castle' shot alone is jaw-droppingly beautiful .. and the narration of the Prince's tragic story, combined with Alan Menken's haunting theme, can still make 'chills' run down my spine. And then it segues into "Belle," perhaps the finest example of a Disney 'story-telling' song; it's full of exposition, yet incredibly entertaining in its 'staging'.

Another animated feature with a great opening sequence is The Iron Giant. The use of Sputnik to 'lead-in' the Giant's fall to Earth is absolutely inspired .. as is the entire sequence with the trawler pilot mistaking the Giant for a lighthouse, and crashing into him. Not nearly as packed with 'exposition' as BatB, but it certainly sets the film's 'cold war/1950's monster invasion' tone, in a memorable & 'classy' fashion.

^ I have to agree with that one. It throws you right into the movie before pulling back and letting you get to know the human players. Plus it's just cool - when the Giant is falling to earth in a flaming mass, that angle they use is perfect and almost flips my stomach as if I were falling with him.

Same here Uli! It was ingenius! Ditto the Cars opening sequence.I love The Incredibles' opening sequence (the one with the interviews)!
The Incredibles one felt like the opening of a real "movie-movie" but with that special animation spark to it.
And I loved that "intrigue music" Giacchino score that you see with the Disney/Pixar logos.
Oh, this makes me feel like watching it right now!

My fave of all time is probably a three-way tie between:
Indy/Temple of Doom--"Anything Goes"/Batman 92/Batman 89
Suh-weet right there.
