I can't help wondering: will the high number of animated films released this year be commented on by the Oscar host or any presenters? Will there be any jokes about it?? :P

Also, sorry to hear you were sick, Ben. :(

Hope you feel better. :)

Tonight's the night when the VERY FIRST Golden Globe for Best Animated Feature is given out.

Never mind that they're a little late, but anyway. ;)

Sorry to sound negative or bitter but..... I don't much care if Cars or Happy Feet wins. I guess if it's a choice between the two, I'd pick Cars, since I loved the opening sequence, and the art took my breath away. Happy Feet underwhelms me so much in its visual look (White snow, penguins, white snow, penguins) that I'm just indifferent. I guess it will be a nice shot in the arm for Animal Logic though, maybe they'll make more interesting looking films in the future. And hopefully a Golden Globe will help a few more VFX artists hang on to their jobs.

As for Pixar, they've gotten so many awards and accolades in the last few years, does it really matter that much if they get one more? How important is it to their studio anyway, will their next film bomb because they didn't win this?

(Sorry if this came off as overly harsh, but you have to admit, it's true.

:? )

Thanx Dan! :) Although I erased that comment due to fear of sounding like a broken record, here it is again: (I was kind of half-joking anyway... :P )

Yeah. The Curse of the Were-Rabbit won last year, but that doesn't explain why Flushed Away didn't get nominated. At least, I don't think that it got nominated, from what I heard.
It's just DW hate. Why won't anyone believe me??

  :? :(
(I was mostly kidding! Why won't anyone believe my conspiracy theory??

Happy Feet is actually quite a visually stunning film, Vi. I was on your side as far as the look of the movie went until I saw it. I know a lot of people hate how it's realistic, because apparently all animated movies need to be super cartoony, but my theory was that they made it look realistic because of the environmental message. It made the penguin's world seem real - the same one we live in - so that people coming out would be more moved to be environmentally conscious. I don’t think people would have said, "Wow, we need to save the Earth!!1!1" if Happy Feet looked liked Surfs' Up. Y'know? :)
