Oh wow -- I just watched
The Little Matchgirl for the first time. Must be the most beautiful, heartfelt little shorts I've seen in a long time.
Yes, that has to win. Although, like you said
Groaning, I heard good things about
Lifted, too.
We'll see who wins the prize next year....

I wouldn't be surprised if it: a) went to Matchgirl as an indication of support for traditional animation at WDFA, or b) went to an un-known independent project as an indication of an individual artist getting their vision up on screen.
With the current feeling going around the animation campuses, Lifted would have to be be very, very, very good to beat the groundswell building up under either of those outcomes.

Interesting.
I love what Mr. Katzenburg said: "I've got no intention to sell DreamWorks Animation. I'm not Steve Jobs with some other company besides Pixar to run."
Sounds like the studio might last after all.
And as for the whole "lay-off" thing, well...yep. That's typical. Dad was almost shocked. Almost. Heh....
Thanks for posting up that information,
ShyViolet.

Wow -- that was great, Vi.
You know, I never did like the word "glut" -- sounds like "gut", which sounds....."unappetizing".

According to Steve G on AN, Arthur and the Invisibles won't be eligable for the Animated Feature Oscar nom since it doesn't abide by the 75% rule--film must have at least 75% animation to live action ratio in order to be nominated.
(So...I guess that lets Enchanted out for 2008?)
*Oops, I think I meant to put this in the OTHER Oscar thread.

If this is true, it means that we're looking at just three nominations this year instead of five.
