Sky Captain and the World of the Day After Tomorrow - doesn't work ("the Day After" has been inserted).

Yes you can drop "The" from the FRONT only. You can "add" letters (sort of):

"Daisy Miller's Crossing" works beause the FULL titles ARE used, but you can't add anything to make it work. The full titles have to be in there.
