NBC has no 'Pride' in its show
Here is a link to some bad news on Father of the Pride. The show will not be airing during November Sweeps, which is almost always a clear sign of the cancelation clock ticking away.

Interesting article! Hope you don't mind that I posted it on the front page.
This wasn't exactly unexpected, imo. I'm not surprised nor saddened that the series is failing, personally. The last line of the article says NBC hasn't decided what to do with the 6 remaining episodes... well, duh! Throw 'em out on a "Complete Series" DVD and make a couple quick bucks. Disney does it all the time - maybe DreamWorks should talk to them...

Heh.
Mediocre ratings do in an expensive TV show.
Kiss of death for network tripe and many science fiction series.
I really don't know if this show would have survived even if it had been syndicated. It was pretty bad to begin with and I know I lost interest after watching the first episode and didn't bother to tune in after that...
DreamWorks TV animation's score so far: 0-3... NONE of their animated TV series have lasted longer than a season.

I'd hesitate to call "Father of the Pride" adult animation.
Adult is not uttering 4-letter words (or suggesting them in mumbles) just for shock value, describing bodily functions that polite people don't talk about in public every 30 seconds, and exploiting a world-famous animal training act that had a recent tragedy.
It was all in bad taste whether or not it had Siegfried and Roy's approval (which it did).
"Father of the Pride" like most TV shows IS shallow and forgotten quickly.
This was not the way to remember the old S & R act or bolster DreamWorks' dismal TV animation record.
Oh, you can bet DreamWorks will do a DVD release of this show. Count on it with all the money they spent on it! DreamWorks/NBC will want to recuperate as much of the money wasted on this trainwreck ASAP.
I'm kinda predicting that most of those DVDs will end up in the landfill next to all those unsold Atari 2600 ET cartridges...

"Wasn't FOTP a Katzenberg project?"
Yeah it was...I never got the chance to watch it, unfortunately, since I haven't had access to a TV in a long time. I was a little shocked by what I saw in the previews, but I thought it was kind of cute. I liked Larry the Lion and his family, they looked cuddly IMO. I guess if you don't like a lot of TV nowadays, this wouldn't appeal to you. Siegfried and Roy liked it though....I guess I'll get to see it....someday.
(BTW Ed I agree with you about most TV!! )

You can’t just have your characters announce how they feel! That makes me feel angry!

I don't think it's fair to generalize network TV because of the garbage networks such as FOX puts out. Look at ABC for example. Extreme Makeover (both regular and Home editions) provide magic for needy people/families in a way that truely touches you. Extreme Makeover: HE is the perfect example of Disney magic. Also, the Dramas, such as Lost have an excellent cast and writing team. Sitcoms My Wife and Kids, George Lopez, and According to Jim provide wholesome family entertainment without resorting to cursing or nudity. Wifeswap, although it does sound bad from the outside (especially after Fox's Trading Spouces), it lets family's learn their flaws and helps them become better for the future. Also approx. 25 million people disagree with you when they watch Desperate Housewives.
Unfortunately, networks such as Fox, and to an extent NBC, provide garbage that ruins it for the rest of TV. Shows such as My Big Fat Obnoxius..., Bridezilla, The Swan, Nanny 911, Renovate My Family, Simple Life, etc.

Bleah - all "reality" shows are scripted and hackneyed. And of course, as with anything that rots your brain, the public wants more.
And the fact that sexually-soaked shows are the ones that do well shows you a sad, unhealthy, repressed side of the public that's painful to watch. We treat sexuality as some kind of taboo oddity to gawk at between our fingers. If we actually embraced (or least acknowledged) what's natural - but nah... let's just continue to live in the Dark Ages. Every other aspect of American life seems to be there already.

In my opinion, there are two types of reality shows...the kind that help people and the kind that doesn't. At least now, people are starting to tune in less to the former and more to the latter. A perfect example is the 20 million who tuned in to see Extreme Makeover: HE this week vs the 6 million who watched The Bachelor. My Big Fat Obnoxious Boss is DOA, Fear Factor, The Bachelor, and Apprentice 2 are all doing worse than last year.
To me, I think it's unfair that when people think of TV today, they automatically think Reality when there is actually very little reality on the networks. Sitcoms and (especially) Drama's are dominating the market now. People have to give TV a chance and realize that there are a lot of quality shows out there, they just have to look.

"[FotP] will return in December with the last six of the 13 episodes ordered by the network. "
"Despite the attack, NBC expressed confidence in the project from the DreamWorks SKG studio"
