Just checked RottenTomatoes - it's squeaked up to a 90%.

Pixar is starting to get ridiculous - seriously, when are these guys going to make a bad movie for once? :x :P

Here's an interesting article by Jim Hill about this subject:

http://jimhillmedia.com/blogs/jim_hill/ ... /2738.aspx

There is A LOT riding on Cars.

How many reviews does it have so far?
Eleven, by my count.

Variety was a thumbs-down.

Overall the reaction is quite positive, however, if not "this movie will live on for generations" positive.

Oh, Jim, give me a break!

"Cars" will be seen as a blockbuster if it breaks $60M on its opening. It doesn't have to make $75M or more! Honestly.

I found the article "Pixar's magic man" to be quite interesting in that Lassetter mentions that very shortly after Iger's appointment, Iger was already reaching out to Pixar & Co., and was invited to Lassetter's home for dinner, etc...

http://money.cnn.com/2006/05/17/news/co ... topstories

Yet later that summer Roy Disney and Stanley Gold launched their "lawsuit" or whatever it was, ostentibly for the purpose of ousting Iger because "the fix was in."

So does this mean that Roy was never really on the same page as Pixar?

So what is his relationship with Disney/Pixar right now? Now that the Pixar people run Feature Animation, is it back to his old job as Head of Feature Animation?

Comingsoon.net has three reviews up for the film:

http://www.comingsoon.net/films.php?id=6796

Most of them say that the movie is too long. Interesting.

too bad they wasted all that money and made a sequal to a movie that didnt need to be made in the first place.

It's 81% on RT now. (which is kinda unfair since they posted the same negative review twice.)

Even though I'm kind of "meh" about the plot (c'mon, a villain, maybe...?)
I loooooove those backgrounds. I took a class about literature and film of the American West (we even talked about Route 66 in particular) so I'm really up for this film. :o

I actually thought Garfield looked cute, but maybe that was because the trailer right before it was Barnyard. :P

Uh oh, I hope they fix that.

Not all stories are meant to have villains.

There is a villain in "Cars". A racer voiced by Michael Keaton. He's called Chick or something.
