The Santa Clause

Post by Josh » March 23rd, 2005, 1:32 pm

Since this is live-action news, I didn't know if it really belonged on the front page. However, considering that no telling how many people have asked if this film was coming, I thought I would still post the news here.

From Coming Soon:

Lembeck Directing The Santa Clause 3

Walt Disney Pictures has signed helmer Michael Lembeck (Connie and Carla) for The Santa Clause 3, which stars shooting in November with Tim Allen returning, reports Variety. The studio is aiming for a holiday 2006 release date.

Ed Decter and John Strauss are writing the screenplay. The duo shared screenplay credit on "Clause 2."

In the third film Santa, aka Scott Calvin, struggles to keep his new family happy while battling Jack Frost, who is trying to take over Christmas.

Allen will shoot "Clause 3" after completing Zoom this summer for Revolution Studios. Allen also has Disney's The Shaggy Dog coming in 2006.

The first "Clause" installment raked in $145 million in the U.S. and the 2002 sequel earned $139 million domestically.

It is interesting to note that people keep referring to Lembeck as just the director of Connie and Carla, when he also directed Santa Clause 2.

One more thing: after all this work that Allen has done for Disney, if he doesn't come back for Toy Story 3, I will be shocked.

Awwwww. I read that the movie would come out this Christmas. Ah, well. The plot sounds cool.

This is great news. I loved the first to films, and the first is my favorite holiday movie (it is a classic in my eyes). I hope all the original people come back like in the 2nd movie. I think the major casting role in this is David Krumholtz (aka Bernard). He was great in the 1st too movies and will probably be great in the 3rd, but he'll be 28 in 2006...a little old for an elf. I also agree that it would be surprising if Tim Allen turned down TS3.

Here is Tim Allen's comments about the movie...

Tim Allen confirmed that he is working on a third Santa Clause movie that would complete the trilogy.

“Santa Clause 3 has not been easy to do because Santa 2 took us almost four years to get it where I kept saying, ‘No.’ It was ridiculous the stuff they came up with because it’s easy.

The third one, I’d like it to cap it so you’d have a three disc set and the first one is still the sweetest one. The middle one is like Aliens, which I love, the Cameron version, ‘Come and get me, you b*tch.’ [sic] That’s the best one. That’s where I kind of geared Santa 2 at. Santa 3 has to be as sweet as the first one. It has to wrap it back in so kids have something to believe in and we don’t want to schmaltz it up, and it’s been really tough.

This one is really a hard nut to crack. We’ve got some wonderful stuff in it right now, a wonderful big concept, but it quickly gets too big so the kids would be running around the theater because the won’t understand it. You don’t want to do that, but you don’t want to be too simple so parents don’t enjoy it. It’s a hard line to walk.”

They're making ANOTHER one?!?

Hey, wasn't 'Escape Clause' originally the name of the second film?

Although it won't be the same without Bernard, by the look of the trailer, this one looks to be very good.

Here's what David said, "I desperately wanted to be on the show, but unfortunately I don't think Disney was as desperate to have me in the film. So, I'm unfortunately not in the film ... They've started filming and they've gone ahead without me, so no Bernard in The Santa Clause 3, but that's just the way the Christmas cookie crumbles, I guess."

Maybe they found it too hard to have a 28 year old man play a 15 year old elf.

It is rumored that Krumholtz coudn't return for SC3 due to scheduling conflicts with his TV series, Numb3rs.

The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause

Post by Daniel » October 19th, 2006, 6:30 pm

Directed by: Michael Lembeck
Release date: November 3, 2006

Following in the footsteps of Disney's original "The Santa Clause" (1994) and its sequel "The Santa Clause 2: The Mrs. Clause" (2002) The third entry "The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause" is finally being released :P

The only downside though, this has been labled "the final chapter" which is a shame :(. I loved the original the most :) and the second movie, continued the heartwarming story by introducing Mrs. Clause, played by Elizabeth Mitchell who returns in the 3rd one

Anyhoo.... Tim Allen returns again  as Santa aka Scott Calvin, only this time he's faced with a double dilemna  How to keep his new family happy, and how to stop Jack Frost from taking over the world!..... Uh, I mean Christmas.

Martin Short looks very neat! in his getup for Jack Frost, but am I the only one who feels that by movies end, the two will be good friends? Come on Disney surprise us :D

Discuss...:)
