Re: Garfield
Fixed Pratt for ya. You had me confused before I clicked the link!
Take it this is fully animated as opposed to a live hybrid, as the design is definitely more CG cartoon than photoreal. I can kind of see Pratt doing it if he leans into that more surly attitude he sometimes displays.

Re: Garfield (CG/Live action)
I’d love a movie that looks totally painted, like those concepts. Garfield in that train image looks like a totally different character that I can’t quite put my finger on. I’m thinking they might be yellow, and it’s the pose that really reminds me, but definitely getting the feeling of something else there!

Poster and trailer:
The first minute was purrfection, I was really invested. Although it kind of annoyed me that John was eating pizza and not lasagna. Baby Garfield is too adorable! Once he started talking it kinda lost the charm. The voice is... fine. He doesn't sound nearly half as deadpan as he should. "I've never jumped" is a perfect Garfield joke though. Think it looks cute enough and cartoony. Also had to laugh at the blatant Olive Garden product placement.

Bill Murray did a better Garfield impression than Chris Pratt.

Re: Garfield
Oh, good. Another toon movie I won’t need to bother about. Voice is totally wrong. Okay, so he’s not going to be a Music or Murray, but he’s not even what Garfield should sound like. Even the jump line didn’t make sense, seeing as we'd just seen him jump two or three times earlier in the trail. Pass.
BTW, noticed we had two topics on this, so mergeroo'd 'em.

Nick Offerman would've been perfect for Garfield.

Re: Garfield
Not a bad shout. I think they’re trying to go a little younger, though, in terms of how the voice fits the character, and Offerman maybe sounds a bit older than that, but still better than their choice. Pratt is just not Garfield!

Calling it now: They're going to create an unnecessary backstory for why he hates Mondays.

Natch! Or the whole film is set on a Monday and at the end, he says…

One Twitter user pointed out a rather notable point about 20's animateds:

(And it's not even a Burton film. )Just like Mario before, Chris Pratt's Garfield also has daddy issues. How hard was it to make a story about Garfield, Odie, and Jon? Why should anyone care about Garfield's dad

Re: Garfield
Great point. Personally, I want the story of what happened to Lyman!

Personally, I’ll just wait for the The Odie Movie spin-off. At least it won’t have the wrong voice.

Lyman showed up at garfields birthday party years later in the strip with a gift for garfield so guess he is still friends with john.
