Uh, no.

No hope.

No hope at all.

It is, apparently, crushingly bad for an Indiana Jones film, if you can call an Indiana Jones film an Indiana Jones film where Indiana Jones is the sidekick to the new female character who swamps the film even though she’s an unlikeable Indiana Jones wannabe but without that (younger) Indiana Jones "charm" and attitude.

A friend of mine has told me to just stay away, although I will obviously be tempted to look. "Don't look Marion! Don't look!" Yeah, the parallels might be true there, but I’ll still have to see it.

Eventually.

Going on how bad this sounded (he was also privy to an even worse alternate ending — apparently the delays were not just about Ford's injuries but about many reshoots that kept changing major elements), I think I’m just going to wait for D+. It won’t take long for it to end up there, given how fast it’ll likely tank in cinemas.

So, yeah…seems Density will join Numb Skull as being "two extra films in the Indiana Jones trilogy"… :(

Honestly, it just sounds *so* bad. :(

59%. Ouch. And the "positive" reviews aren't exactly glowing, either. Still, many seem to find it, well... barely adequate. Not exactly what we wanted, but about what we expected. At least all agree that Ford really brought it, which might be enough for some to overcome a blah story and so-so direction.

Spielberg, Lucas and especially Ford are becoming more and more vocal about this not being what they thought it was going to be. Spielberg totally blanked Kennedy at a premiere last week, and Ford *and* Mangold have expressed their disappointment in an ending that was switched on them after the cut had been assembled. Six endings exist, with four fully shot and two in planning, and at least two of them sound like they may have been pretty pleasing, after the initial "Indy is erased from history and replaced by Waller-Bridge" — yes, that’s what Kennedy wanted — was outrightly rejected by literally everybody else. But what she says goes, so she's still belittled Indy in his own film in an ending that apparently makes no sense at all now.

Star Wars, Willow, Indy…could there be a common denominator in their collective LucasFilm "failure"…? Hmmm…

Time to lean into one of the only things in this movie that may not be totally sucky-sucky. Ladies and gentlemen, John Williams!

Kathleen Kennedy: "That theme that in three notes…"

Orchestra proceeds to play four notes.

Yeah, she gets it… :(

Spielberg, Lucas, Ford and Mangold are not laughing. After this comes out and he sees the numbers, I don’t think Iger will be laughing either… :(

Sorry had to post this…not trying to bash K unnecessarily, but I think this interview perfectly reveals how little respect she has for the essential heart of Lucas’ Star Wars vision:
