My wife and a pal loved The Art Of Racing In The Rain, but I found it incredibly depressing and a bit dumb. Honestly, every story beat is someone getting sick, or worse, or not having life work out how you thought it was going to go, to the point where almost absolutely nothing happy ever happens — in a cute dog movie at that! — except for towards the end, where the dumb bit comes in. It’s supposed to be uplifting, and given the past 90 minutes of unhappiness it can’t help but be anything but, but I was still left scratching my head over what just happened, how and why…

More interestingly, Comcast is throwing a spanner into Disneys plans, by making early overtures as to buying out *all* of Hulu from them. At the moment, Universal/Comcast owns 33% of Hulu, with Disney owning the same, plus the same again through their purchase of 20th Century. Under the current terms, Disney controls Hulu outright, and has the written agreement option of buying out Comcast’s 33% for an established cost of around $27bn in 2024. Just this week, though, Comcast valued this as potentially more and has said if Disney were to spin-off Hulu as a separate entity, it would be interested in buying it outright. This naturally goes against the widely seen understanding that Disney wants to blend in Hulu to D+ worldwide, as it already is in international territories, and as to why Universal has been slowly pulling content from Hulu. So it’s all going to get interesting… I think this is just Comcast trying to up the cost Disney is going to have to shell out, though that cost has already been valued and agreed, so it could all get a little ugly, and Disney could quite rightly say Uni/Comcast are plotting corporate sabotage, knowing what its plans are and letting Disney/Disney+ invest heavily in the Hulu/D+ bundle, only for Uni/Comcast to benefit from that. As I say, very interesting…

Highly unlikely there’s a clean print of that available at this point. There were also multiple versions of the special made? With different segments? (I’m pretty sure there was one that ran only half an hour while the other clocked it at 90 minutes?).

Of course both specials were recycled footage from previous movies, shorts, and TV episodes. But it was great to have stuff I had never seen before as a kid, like Captain Hook as the Magic Mirror.

Can’t believe Call Of The Wild and Greatest Showman have not been available respectively in the US and UK until now.

Despite the sometimes phony dog, Wild is well worth a watch, and the cute "performance" of the CGI pooch wins over by the film's end, or maybe even just past the midpoint. Just go with it and enjoy; it’s a very well made family adventure picture.

Fox deal on hbo max. HBO max just got the garfield movies again. This makes about the 6th time its came and went!

Netflix had sofia the first. It's deal is up and that's why disney plus is getting it.

HBO had spies in disguise also till now.
