Steve Jobs really emphasised on the idea during the recent Pixar investor conference call.

Doesn't this mean Cars will now go against A Day with Wilbur Robinson at the Oscars, should both films get nominated? Considering the early word on both movies, we may finally see something I didn't think would happen for a long time: a Disney film beating a Pixar film for the Best Animated Feature Oscar.

So here are the duels:

Summer 2005:
Disney's The Wild vs. Dreamworks' Madagascar

Fall 2005:
Disney's Chicken Little vs. Dreamworks' Wallace & Gromit

Late Spring/ Early Summer 2006
Disney's A Day With Wilbur Robinson vs. Disney/Pixars' Cars vs. Blue Sky's Ice Age 2

After that, we don't have any major Disney or Dreamworks films until 2007 (correct me if I'm wrong) with Shrek 3.

Let the battle begin!

I believe this release schedule will end up being best for Pixar. However, I don't doubt that because of a lot of the negative buzz around the Cars trailer that Pixar minds having extra time to maybe tweak the film a bit more!

I think Shrek 3 may be coming in late 2006.

I don't believe The Wild will be coming out next year. However, keep in mind that Sony's Surf's Up is scheduled to open in late June.

Let's not forget "Over the Hedge"...

...imdb.com quotes it as having a 2006 release AND that Jim Carrey was replaced with Bruce Willis!

There's another DW release for ya, Violet

Ha, ha. Thanks, Stego. :)

From what I've heard, "The Wild" sounds suspiciously like Madagascar.....I think it's also about animals who escape from NYC....very hazy on this.

Early word on A Day with Wilbur Robinson is that it's a masterpiece.

well that narrows it down  just kiddin' thanks for the info!

What's the animation style? (i'm assuming CG) Is it all Disney or a co-achievement?

A Day with Wilbur Robinson is an all-CGI, all-Disney movie.

what's interesting is that with Cars pushed back to summer 2006, Pixar's Rat film would most likely be in summer 2007. Guess what other film is in the summer 2007...Shrek 3. That's the battle I want to see. pure Pixar vs pure Dreamworks, and in this case, I think Dreamworks would 'own' Pixar (that'll teach Pixar to go to a different distribution partner).

No way, Dreamworks wants a summer movie with a holiday dvd release. Remember, we must think like executives, that means in dollarsigns
