The Jim Henson Company
You can’t just have your characters announce how they feel! That makes me feel angry!

Re: Animated Fraggle Rock McD's commercial!
Teaser for the upcoming revival:
Actually doesn't look half bad. Nice to hear the theme song wasn't messed with. Nostalgia!

Re: Animated Fraggle Rock McD's commercial!
Just digging up the archival discussions from before my time:
Robinson took the criticism hard, and left the show a season later, leading to a new recast Gordon. Who's done well since then, I should add.
But anyway--
---
Like the Netflix Dark Crystal series, nice to see the Rock back after its long limbo of Lisa Henson trying to create a new movie revival at Disney, but...Junior Gorg without Richard Hunt? Gobo without Jerry Nelson? Wembley without Steve Whitmire?
And most of all, the show without Jerry Juhl, who was the real brains behind the show?: Jim Henson wanted "the Peace Show" with international appeal, life lessons and songs, and clearly had more passion for marketing the RC Doozers, but Juhl created the crazy personal character quirks and the general world-philosophy of applied silliness. Heard Juhl at a celebrity appearance one time, and it was clearly his baby.
(And Mokey should stick to wearing her hair natural.)
And just saw the 50th-aniversary "Street Gang" documentary, that talked about how original first-season cast member and black-TV activist Matt Robinson helped create black Muppet kid Roosevelt Franklin as the cool, education-empowered role model for the kids in the early 70's, but parents and teachers instead found the character a "jive stereotype", and campaigned to have him off the show.ShyViolet wrote: ↑December 5th, 2007, 2:55 amNo, I totally get everything you're saying EV. Completely agree.
Apparently: Oscar is too sad and grumpy, Big Bird shouldn't have been hallucinating that he saw Snufflapugus while no one else could (although later on they made it so that everyone could see him )

Scarily, this looks *just* like long-lost old episodes that have been brushed up, complete with "dated" 80s cameras and chroma key effects! Nostalgia indeed!

And this is neither.

But yes, as someone who grew up with the original Rock, Garry Shandling, and Shelley Duvall's fairytales on 80's cable, it's a hard look to pull off.
Only a true labor of love could technically recreate 1983 cable poverty.

It's a reboot and not a follow up with a female doc, doozers on jetpacks and gorgs that just throw fraggles back in the well over hitting them in the heads.

And not CGI Doozers like Jim WOULD have wanted if it went on one more season...
And should have put a comma in there: As in, we do get a female doc, Doozers on jetpacks, and perhaps less subtle interpretations of the Gorgs without Jerry Nelson or Richard Hunt.

I’m still not entirely sure who this is for…
