MoviePass lowers subscription price - dramatically!
I joined a service called MoviePass back in 2013. It's kinda like Netflix for theatres. You pay a monthly subscription fee and can then go see one movie per day. I wrote a couple of articles about it back then:

http://animatedviews.com/2013/moviepass-does-it-work/
Back then the cost was $35 a month. Last year they raised it to $45 a month. For a lot of people it's not worth it at the price. But I've been going to 4-8 movies a month since I signed up and love it.
Today they announced a price drop -- $9.95 a month!
I'm honestly in shock. I don't know how they're going to be able to stay in business. (Apparently, they're switching to a Google type business model, where instead of you paying to use a service, companies pay to learn about you.)
Anyway, for less than the cost of one ticket a month you can go to lots of movies every month! Thought some of you might be interested.
BTW - Not sure if they still have that thing where if you sign up and mention you heard it from me I get a discount but if so feel free to do so (james@whitsonweb.com)!

EDIT: Thier website is down! Some info on their twitter feed though.

Wow! That's incredible! Unfortunately, I don't have a smart phone.

I would so take advantage of this if it were available here.

Regal, AMC, and Cinemark all have their own monthly pass service now so not likely a repeat of their old model. I’m betting some kind of movie streaming or rental service, assuming it’s not some sham announcement.

I'm guessing someone bought the name at the bankruptcy sale, and is planning another streaming service, with focus on the new "premiere" titles, with a lot of advertising that it's, quote, "just like the theaters!", even though they'll still be showing the same weird indies in a month.
Anyone remember when Flixster was just a social-media fansite to post your movie-watching and disk collections, before Warner bought the name?

There is a movie also. Maybe it's promoting the film?

The new site and the original supposedly have the same Google Analytics code to track traffic.

Hoax. Visiting the site now displays a callout video and this message:
This website was made with around $20, with no purpose other than to fool friends. It was tweeted out by a twitter user who we have no affiliation with, and the media picked it up from there. Some articles claimed this was an 'official MoviePass website' which was completely fabricated by those journalists.
