Four new songs confirmed:

Miranda offered an update on the remake while at the Oscars on Sunday, when he told red carpet host Billy Porter that he had written four new songs for the movie. "I wrote four new songs with Menken," he confirmed. "They are in rehearsals right now. They'll be shooting starting in April, all summer."

Maybe Ursula is getting a new one? Despite it being Melissa, could be cool.

Update from Halle:

“I was in London at the beginning of the year about to start filming and of course this pandemic has forced everybody to slow down”, Halle stated when asked about the status of the film. “I’m so very excited for when we start back again and it’s really come together. I just feel honored every day to think about it or even talk about it, I’m like what the heck, that’s really happening?” As for casting changes, Halle confirms there isn’t going to be any recasts, “The cast are beautiful humans inside and out and everybody is already like a family.”

Interestingly I saw a bit of Jonah Haeur-King on a BBC series "World on Fire" that recently started over here in the states. I'm finding it hard to picture him as Prince Eric.

Little update on Jonah:

Even though he's not currently on set, Hauer-King hasn't been sitting idle at home. After being cast as Prince Eric in Disney's upcoming live-action "The Little Mermaid," he's had plenty of time to study his part. "I know that script so well now. I've had so much time," he said. "I could do every part. I could do I could say everyone's lines."
