I saw this, and cringed at one thing: "our clients' movies". They are not their "clients' movies", sadly. They are the studio's movies. Ultimately, yes, they should consult, and they should have spoken to all participants before blindsiding everyone. But at the end of the day, the studios have picked, backed and will market these films: they belong to the studio. That wording could and should have been more ambiguous, or conversely more explicit to emphasize authorship, and might come back to bite them...

Moves up a little.
Tim Story’s animated live-action hybrid Tom & Jerry will go slightly earlier on Feb. 26, 2021 instead of March 5. We’ll see how the release schedule settles during the first quarter of 2021, but Feb. 26-28 is super busy right now with 20th Century Studio’s Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, Paramount’s The United States vs. Billie Holiday, and Universal’s Nobody.

Behind-the-scenes footage:

Spike! And other classic characters!

Although a bit rough, I kinda dig the first sketch scene. Has more life and is even funnier as it shows Tom getting shocked. That's something out of the original shorts! The final version lacks that oomph.

Totally. I watched this before I read your comment and was going to add the exact same thing. In all the cleanliness of the final shot, it lacks that spark that gives hand-drawn that feeling of life. This comes off as a close approximation of that, but still an approximation.

Dune may NOT be going to hbo max now! Theatres only! Kong may follow!

Also sony ceo says sony is getting a big boom right now of actors, directors and crew singing up to join sony--from wb!!!!

Why? As the ceo says "they don't have a streaming service!"

Ouch! Yup this has blown up in wbs face!

Not the greatest poster, eh? But I like the tagline.

That preview was a lot more spoilery. There's some real nice bits to it. Still kind of iffy on the animation. It is refreshing as I said earlier, but part of me wishes it would've just been traditional or go for broke and gone the Detective Pikachu route. Something like this:

Obviously without the smoking. That's kind of what I was expecting.

Update on hbo max.

Thanks to the hbo max stunt Christopher Nolan saying goodbye to WB!

On a lighter note they have tom and jerry comics out now to promote the film!

I suspect WB will try to woo Nolan back. His next film won’t be ready until 2023 or 2024 at the earliest, and who knows what the releasing landscape will look like by then. My guess is that they will guarantee him at least a one month exclusive theatrical window, and a bigger slice of VOD revenue.

If he does move, then my guess is that he could have leapt for what was Fox, but now it’s Disney's 20th Century that could be more uncertain, though it’s worth noting that 20th Century are still being welcoming to name filmmakers like Kenneth Branagh (who has several projects set up between Disney and 20th) and Nolan's one and only non-WB film since he became a name director was The Prestige, which was released in the US by Touchstone, aka Disney!

But I think WB will continue to make some overtures, unless he’s already been talking to other studios, or they have gone sniffing around his next show. I'd think that Netflix is out, for obvious reasons, and maybe Sony is another that has the pockets to fund him, but I’d bet 20th is where he'll end up (he's also pals with Branagh, who has a good relationship there), or just end up sticking with WB.
