Tina Fey's character is just named 22, no # needed.

I kind of share your feelings. Felt the same way with Olaf and Forky though and ended up loving them! One issue I have is that I assumed at first that 22 was a boy. Looks male and even from the previews reminds me of Bart Simpson. I commend Pixar, they could've gone the easy color stereotype route and make the girl soul's pink and the boys more blue. Feels refreshing.

Does anyone remember this?

Was this supposed to be the film's previous title or was it another film that was cancelled?

That was our sites April Fool. Here's the hoax description:
Animated Views wrote:BREAKING: Pixar to take audiences to #Heaven in 2021 with "buddy cop-style adventure comedy" about two guardian angels tasked with protecting a particularly danger-prone 12-year old boy.

It's so weird. I started deleting old images from my phone and came across it and I had no recollection of it whatsoever. Weird coincidence how you managed to invent a movie whose premise is similar to Soul's

Yep, pretty amazing. Even the "danger-prone" seems to match Joe to a T.

And frankly, the buddy-cop comedy (with the implied genre parodies) DID sound like a plausibly good Pixar premise.

Arguably a better one than "Ghost of Dory".

After two delays, the McDonald's Happy Meal toys launched this week:

Kind of cute. Joe was actually released earlier in a campaign celebrating 25 years of Pixar. What's cool and unique about his plush is the backside doubles as his soul version. I'll probably try to get 22 and that other soul.

8 more days guys! Yes, Christmas already! :o

Tomorrows the big day -- Santa Claus is coming to town! Oh wait, not that. After being delayed and eventually cancelled for the big screen, Soul will be made available to stream for free to Disney+ subscribers. Really looks like it will special and pack an emotional gut punch. I probably will watch in the evening. Still feels a little surreal!

We're probably going to watch tomorrow evening too, or on Boxing Day depending on how things go. We've just a small Crimbo, just the two of us and the dog, and no set plans, so it’ll be nice just to relax and see how things fall into place...but Soul is up there as a treat to watch over the next couple of days!

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!! :D

And I'll probably save HBOMax's counter-programmed Wonder Woman opening for January, when I rotate services.
Christmas Day theater openings were always designed for that week-after-Christmas excuse for parents to get school-vacation kids out of the house before January anyway.

For now, though, it's the usual Christmas-before-and-after viewing of Charlie Brown, the Snowman, Little Drummer Boy, that weird Maurice Sendak "Nutcracker", and "Curse of the Cat People".
