We almost had a nine-way tie and our first three-time winner. But a surprise winner for Best Picture whittled that down to one. Congratulations to this year's winner: brobr6, who got 20 of 22 categories right! brobr6 previously won in 2014.

Thanks to all who entered. See how you fared on the contest results page!

Well, I did...not my best on this one. Serves me right I guess for picking several movies which I wanted to win.

Even Rand fared better than me!

;) :)

Woo a big improvement for me. Definitely gonna stick to following what the guilds hand out and maybe I should listen to the SAG Ensemble result a bit more for the future. Finishing 'fourth' is definitely a more recent high point for me. Would have been 'third' if I didn't let sentimentality determine my pick for VFX.

I got just over 50% right. For me, that was pretty good!

Oscar Contest 2021

Post by James » April 11th, 2021, 9:59 pm

Animated Views is giving away $50 worth of movies — your choice of either an Amazon gift card or a Fandango gift card — during our 17th Annual Oscar Event! All you have to do is predict who is going to win at the 93rd Annual Academy Awards (to be held on Sunday, April 25th, and televised on ABC). The person with the most correct picks will win!

Log into your Animated Views Forum account to play. Not a forum member? Registration is free and easy so why not sign-up now! You never have to actually use the forum if you don't want to. We never give away or sell any of your information. And other than a message to confirm your address (and another if you win!), we do not send any emails to forum members.

Make your prediction in each category using this form. All entries must be received by Friday, April 23rd, at 11:59pm ET. One entry per person please. If you send more than one entry, only the first one received will be counted.

Let me know of any issues. For the first time in decades, the Academy changed the number of categories and I had to rewrite a lot of code to account for it!

That's weird. I didn't enter 'til 2011? And that was the one year that I beat Ben. Fun to revisit all that.

I'll feel especially lost with voting this year. Maybe I'm not alone?

OK. Did the contest and i'm sure i'll do awful again this year but still have fun picking winners every year.

Also why is onward in the best pictures on the contest? Pretty sure onward didn't get a best picture nod.

Time to try and think like an academy member which means

a) Trying to wok out the theme/narrative for this years awards

and b) giving an award to every best picture nominee to justify its nomination

I know b) doesn't always occur but I feel since they expanded to more than 5 BP nominees, there has been less sweeping of the awards as the Academy seems to want to award every BP nominee.
