"Great Fairy Rescue" is definitely the If-you-have-to-see-only-one title, but they basically peaked with "The Pirate Fairy". (Which was supposed to be a completely different story, in the early previews, which suggested the series was running to an end of ideas.) The "Neverbeast" story seems to have been the one they bowed out on, since that one's more of a story for the back characters, with Tink basically reduced to a supporting cameo.

Re: New Disney Streaming Service: Disney+
I'd still rather see the complete 80's broadcast-order Ducktales and Rescue Rangers, since I didn't think much of the Disney Afternoon when it was on in the 80's/90's (too obnoxiously jokey, and Darkwing Duck and Bonkers still give me hives), but now looks like high-quality TV gold compared to what's been airing on cable in the past decade.droosan wrote: ↑November 21st, 2019, 5:29 pmGranted, I have access to Disney+ for 'free' (for the first year, thanks to Verizon) .. but I agree it is an 'added value' to my own large Disney home video collection; not a 'replacement' for it.
I'm pleased to finally be able to watch many of the spin-off TV shows that I hadn't bothered to collect on disc, like Tangled: The Series and Big Hero 6 (both of which are surprisingly good, story- and art-wise) .. and shows that never got a proper home video release, like The Little Mermaid spin-off TV cartoon.
As for the lesser-known Marvel toons, I'd already seen Silver Surfer when it played Netflix, and I've got the complete X-Men:TAS on disc (but I'm rewatching the second half of the Dark Phoenix saga, since I don't remember what happened), but I'm more interested in looking up the cheesy late-70's "Spiderman & His Amazing Friends".
And yes, considering what a big "event" deal Disney made of making sure we got their Vault Blu-rays the first time around, I don't see any advantage to having the D+ streams at my fingertips, unless it's to look up one individual scene from Fantasia '40 or Mary Poppins. I'm still waiting for the rest of Disney's Vudu VOD streams of the 50's-70's live-action studio rarities to turn up, which will probably surface next spring, along with all those announced Marvel series.
May keep it through January (just long enough to play Babes in Toyland over Christmas), and then wake me when they get "Marvel's What If?"

Re: New Disney Streaming Service: Disney+
Because I'm a crazy perfectionist and if I'm going to collect something I have to go all out!
Some are duplicates because I have opened and unopened copies.
Some are duplicates because there is a widescreen and fullscreen version.
And some are duplicates because the title on the tape is either printed directly on it in ink or is a sticker.
Some duplicates look exactly the same but have different catalog numbers.
Some duplicates are the same but the color of the insert is off. (Ok that's just this one!)
Some duplicates are different formats.
Some duplicates have minor cover variations.
And if all that wasn't bad enough, I'm also collecting a backup copy of every tape... just in case!
I need help!
BTW, I'm moving this Disney+ thread from the news forum to the TV forum.

But...James... they’re not in sequential release date order! How can you call yourself a true collector!?

Because I’m not just a true collector, I’m an obsessive true collector — they’re in the VHS tape’s release date order!

All these years that I've known him, and I had no idea that James was so insane!
This is the first glimpse we have had at James The Collector. Wow.

Quite cool that you can make up a full collection of the hand-drawn films, save for Princess And The Frog.

Re: New Disney Streaming Service: Disney+
Our family ate pizza and snackies while watching the new Lady and The Tramp tonight (followed by Jeff Goldblum and The Mandalorian). It feels like it would be mean to put down a movie that does at least try to be heartwarming. It's basically a good TV movie, with pretty good effects for the budget, though it can't touch the original. I'm glad there were a few changes, as I prefer these to be re-imaginings rather than straight remakes. And I thought the new ending really worked. So, a lukewarm thumb's up. Worth watching if you already have the service, but you're not missing anything if you don't.
Meanwhile, my boy LOVES The Mandalorian. For me, I like it fine, but it's not blowing me away yet. Though, that final battle in episode 3 was quite something, and put a big smile on my face. The show is not really trying to be an epic space opera, more of a Man with No Name kind of thing, making it a slow burn --- in a good way, I think.

Re: New Disney Streaming Service: Disney+
Oh ho, my friend, it gets worse!
As I said, I'm being a bit of a completist, so I'm also collecting VHS tapes of short films that were included in the canon package films.
That's not too crazy, you might say. So let's get weird. I'm collecting TOYS that are Disney VHS related!
For example these cups that you could buy from Burger King in the 1990s (I actually bought 4 of these when they were originally released).
Or these replica VHS cases with a toy inside that came with McDonalds Happy Meals in the 1990s.
How about some notebooks shaped like VHS tapes?
Lastly, I found a box of old stuff I saved from when I worked at Toys R Us, and among them were these buttons we used to wear to promote Disney VHS releases. Not sure I'll collect more of these, but if I found more I guess I might!
Anyway, as you can see I need professional help! Best thing about all these though is that it's a relatively cheap hobby.

Oh how could I forget this?! Cheap hobby, yes... except for this: a window sign from an old video rental store with the Disney Classics black diamond VHS logo! I did pay an embarrassingly large amount of money for it!
