Russell Crowe was the original choice for the voice of Sinbad before he found he couldn't "act for animation" and backed out
Also, he was supposed to be a real jerk to work with.

But personally I still think he would have been better than Brad Pitt, although Brad wasn't all that bad. I just think Russell's accent and "lusty" voice would have been better than Brad's Cali/Valley way of speaking.
Besides, since he's so well known as Tony Soprano, it would've been taking "Type-casting" to an extreme, don't you think?
That's true, but practically everyone thinks "gangster" when Robert De Niro's voice is heard. (especially since he did Analyze This, that Sopranos rip-off)
James also had some kind of deal with DW, I think. He did The Mexican, The Last Castle, and Christmas with the Kranks as well. All very different roles. I still think he would have been a really good Don Lino.

But Vi, if you change the voice, you change the entire character.

Di Niro and Scorsese knew how to play off each other very well. If it had been another actor, that "You-said-what-first" bit might not work as well as it does.

And I still think Russel is "Too dignified" to voice a pirate like Sinbad. ;)

That's kinda true...BTW were they actually in the same room when they did the bits? I think they were, weren't they?

But Vi, if you change the voice, you change the entire character.
Yes, but how much of a character was there to begin with? De Niro didn't seem to "create" a character (as he has often done in the past) as much as he was walking through one. (which is kind of what he's been doing in every performance lately. )

And I still think Russel is "Too dignified" to voice a pirate like Sinbad.
Um, Russell Crowe...dignified? He was a surly Gladiator, surly hostage negotiator, surly Mathamatician, surly ship captain, psychotic killer hologram opposite Denzel Washington in "Vituosity"....I should think he would be able to pull off a pirate.

But if it's about his Australian accent--which would probably translate as British in a Disney-esque cartoon like Sinbad--at least that's much more interesting and exotic than Brad Pitt for crying out loud. He did a competent job, he played the character. But Crowe would have been far more interesting, IMHO....after all look at Sinbad's crew. He had an Italian guy, some Spanish guys and his first mate was from from some North African country, it seemed to me. Russell's accent would have made it all the better.
Christina Aguilera in the Car Wash video is my favorite. Does that count?

Sure it does... :) except I think she said that she wasn't wild about the way they designed her. :P

Well, to get this thread back on topic, :) , I've chosen some more editing room gems... :P
WILLEM DAFOE
I must test out my bright green suit, silly flying device, and green gas in order to prevent my company from going out of business.

DOCTOR IGOR
But master, the green ooze we stole from the Ninja Turtles movie is known to cause insanity!

WILLEM DAFOE
I'm Willem Dafoe. Look at me. Nobody is going to notice if I'm cackling a bit more than usual.

He consumes GREEN GAS. Lights flash, thunder crackles, and the Danny Elfman score becomes ever so slightly dramatic.

DOCTOR IGOR
Oh s***! Willem is transforming before my very eyes...

He jumps out of the chamber.

WILLEM DAFOE
That's right! I have become...uh..
(looks at himself)
S***, I look exactly the same. Why did Tobey get muscles and I'm still all wrinkly and gaunt? This makes me.... ANGRY! GOBLIN SMASH!
TOBEY MAGUIRE
Oh, hey Kirsten. I was just in the area. How's it going?

KIRSTEN DUNST
Pretty well, Tobey. I think I'm in love with Spider-man.

TOBEY MAGUIRE
Funny you should mention that, I happen to know him quite well, as I am his photographer.

KIRSTEN DUNST
That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard, Tobey. Seriously, no real person would say that and expect to keep their identity a secret. You need to be more careful. Speaking of being more careful, I'm going to walk home in the dark now. And take a detour into a dark alley that dead ends. See ya.
CGI WILLEM DAFOE
I hate you, Spider-Man! Now I will make you choose between innocent children and the love of your life!

CGI TOBEY MAGUIRE
Why?

CGI WILLEM DAFOE
Uhh..because your costume is exactly the primary light colors mine is not! How the hell should I know?

CGI TOBEY MAGUIRE
This is completely ridiculous.

CGI WILLEM DAFOE
This is only the beginning of my over-the-top villainy! Later, I plan on putting a kitten in a microwave with a timer on it that can only be defused by solving a puzzle cube!
CGI TOBEY MAGUIRE
Once again, the city is safe from giant plastic toys.

EXT. NEW YORK CITY

CGI TOBEY MAGUIRE swings through the streets, eventually landing on the EMPIRE STATE BUILDING with the EMPIRE STATE BUILDING visible behind him.

TOBEY MAGUIRE (V.O.)
So, back to the stupid narration.. Who am I? I'm Darkman. I mean, Spider-Man! Dammit!

Thanks, Meg. That was quite entertaining. :)

Also, here's another old but funny excerpt from Rod Hilton's site:

Best Buds: Kevin Smith has announced that for his next movie, 'Best Buds', he will drop all pretenses and just strap a camera to his head while he hangs out with his friends, and smokes pot. Comic books are also said to be involved.

Star Wars: Episode III: George Lucas has allegedly decided on the title for the third prequel (in which Anakin turns fully into Darth Vader and eliminates most of the remaining Jedi) has already been announced. This was sent in by "Lackey12":

George plans on calling the next movie 'Star Wars: Episode III: The Thing That Came From The Dark Side!' I should know, I'm one of the twenty or so mindless nodding heads that follow Lucas around, encouraging every stupid idea he has without questioning his sanity.

Chris Tucker's Next: Miramax has begun work on a new Chris Tucker film. He is said to be playing a streetwise black person who talks quickly to get himself out of difficult situations.

The Avengers: Tim Burton is said to be helming a new superhero film in the works about the superhero team The Avengers, which consists of Captain America, Thor, Iron Man, Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch, Vision and virtually every Marvel character at some point. "I really liked doing Batman and Batman Returns," Burton says, "but since the Superman Lives project didn't go through, I decided to write and direct a story based on issue #45 of 'The Avengers', in which Baron Zemo and Red Skull team up and kidnap the president's daughter and take her off to a hidden island and The Avengers have to rescue her with the help of guest character The Hulk. But don't let this give you the wrong idea, everyone who knows me knows I don't read comic books."

ComingSoon.net's Superhero Hype! has learned that Sony Pictures will debut the new Spider-Man 3 trailer on MTV next Thursday, November 9, during MTV's "Real World/Road Rules Challenge: The Duel" at 10p.m. ET. The trailer will then play in theaters with the studio's Casino Royale starting November 17.

Spider-Man 3 hits theaters on May 4, 2007.
SPLEEEE! :D
From Dark Horizons and Film Ick: "The appearance of Bruce Campbell as Quentin Beck [aka Mysterio] in "Spider-Man 3" is to play out something a like this reports Filmick:

"Peter Parker finds out about a Spider-Man movie being made and goes to the set to check it out. Avi Arad and Sam Raimi have cameos as the producer and director. Quentin Beck is the movie's special FX guy.

The fact that Peter and MJ are both in the public eye - though one can never reveal that he is - is milked for a little bit of fun too.

This brief cameo appearance by Beck is just about the full the breadth and depth of the "4th villain" mystery"."
Hee, that's almost exactly what happened in one of my favorite Ultimate Spider-Man storylines. That'll be fun if they do it right.
