Russell Crowe was the original choice for the voice of Sinbad before he found he couldn't "act for animation" and backed out

Also, he was supposed to be a real jerk to work with.

But personally I still think he would have been better than Brad Pitt, although Brad wasn't all that bad. I just think Russell's accent and "lusty" voice would have been better than Brad's Cali/Valley way of speaking.

Besides, since he's so well known as Tony Soprano, it would've been taking "Type-casting" to an extreme, don't you think?

That's true, but practically everyone thinks "gangster" when Robert De Niro's voice is heard. (especially since he did Analyze This, that Sopranos rip-off)
James also had some kind of deal with DW, I think. He did The Mexican, The Last Castle, and Christmas with the Kranks as well. All very different roles. I still think he would have been a really good Don Lino.

Di Niro and Scorsese knew how to play off each other very well. If it had been another actor, that "You-said-what-first" bit might not work as well as it does.

And I still think Russel is "Too dignified" to voice a pirate like Sinbad.

That's kinda true...BTW were they actually in the same room when they did the bits? I think they were, weren't they?

Yes, but how much of a character was there to begin with? De Niro didn't seem to "create" a character (as he has often done in the past) as much as he was walking through one. (which is kind of what he's been doing in every performance lately.

Um, Russell Crowe...dignified? He was a surly Gladiator, surly hostage negotiator, surly Mathamatician, surly ship captain, psychotic killer hologram opposite Denzel Washington in "Vituosity"....I should think he would be able to pull off a pirate.

But if it's about his Australian accent--which would probably translate as British in a Disney-esque cartoon like Sinbad--at least that's much more interesting and exotic than Brad Pitt for crying out loud. He did a competent job, he played the character. But Crowe would have been far more interesting, IMHO....after all look at Sinbad's crew. He had an Italian guy, some Spanish guys and his first mate was from from some North African country, it seemed to me. Russell's accent would have made it all the better.

Christina Aguilera in the Car Wash video is my favorite. Does that count?

except I think she said that she wasn't wild about the way they designed her.

He consumes GREEN GAS. Lights flash, thunder crackles, and the Danny Elfman score becomes ever so slightly dramatic.

Oh s***! Willem is transforming before my very eyes...

He jumps out of the chamber.

That's right! I have become...uh..
(looks at himself)
S***, I look exactly the same. Why did Tobey get muscles and I'm still all wrinkly and gaunt? This makes me.... ANGRY! GOBLIN SMASH!

TOBEY MAGUIRE
Oh, hey Kirsten. I was just in the area. How's it going?

KIRSTEN DUNST
Pretty well, Tobey. I think I'm in love with Spider-man.

TOBEY MAGUIRE
Funny you should mention that, I happen to know him quite well, as I am his photographer.

That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard, Tobey. Seriously, no real person would say that and expect to keep their identity a secret. You need to be more careful. Speaking of being more careful, I'm going to walk home in the dark now. And take a detour into a dark alley that dead ends. See ya.

CGI WILLEM DAFOE
I hate you, Spider-Man! Now I will make you choose between innocent children and the love of your life!

CGI TOBEY MAGUIRE

ComingSoon.net's Superhero Hype! has learned that Sony Pictures will debut the new Spider-Man 3 trailer on MTV next Thursday, November 9, during MTV's "Real World/Road Rules Challenge: The Duel" at 10p.m. ET. The trailer will then play in theaters with the studio's Casino Royale starting November 17.

Spider-Man 3 hits theaters on May 4, 2007.

Hee, that's almost exactly what happened in one of my favorite Ultimate Spider-Man storylines. That'll be fun if they do it right.
