Re: Nimona
So it’s unclear if this is actually continuing Blue Sky's work, or if basically this is a new production based on the original graphic novel, which is what it sounds like. Whichever way, Disney (+) was silly to let this slip through its gloves…

Re: Nimona
Unfortunately, it sounds like they're going to start from scratch. Darn shame, since Blue Sky's production was apparently close to being finished!
But given that the article says "production started early last year"--yeah, that's right after Blue Sky was shut down. This is sadly going to be a whole new thing, and we will probably never see the original animation now.

Re: Nimona
Sounds like it didn't start from scratch:
Insider wrote:A person with knowledge of the production told Insider that Netflix and Annapurna didn't start from scratch. Much of what Blue Sky started remains intact, and members of the Blue Sky creative team have stayed on the project.
"It's a big sigh of relief," the former Blue Sky staffer said, referring to Netflix's announcement. "It's something that we all worked so hard on together. It was a labor of love."

Oh, good for them! Ironic that Disney's biggest competitor has landed what they could have had themselves for negligible cost. If it ever gets a disc, I’ll shelve this as the unofficial last Blue Sky entry.

Teaser poster and trailer:
Not really sure what to make of it, and don't think the voice fits, but it has my attention.

Netflix is selling a plushie bundle:
That's actually pretty adorable! Reminds me of the kind from Japan. Very nice details.

A "consistent delight"! THR wants a sequel!

Weird for Disney to back off on this — especially under the non-Disney Blue Sky name — for the supposed reasons stated only for them to do it anyway in Strange World. As it says, Disney's loss is Netflix's gain.
