Get ready for...
SPIDER-MAN: THE BROADWAY MUSICAL! NO KIDDING!
That may not be the official title, but Marvel Studios is putting the pieces together for a musical on the Great White Way starring the popular superhero, which will be directed by Tony winner Julie Taymor, with U2's Bono and the Edge creating new music and lyrics for the project.
Auditions are taking place, and a reading is scheduled for the summer. No dates for a Broadway opening have been set.
Producing are Hello Entertainment/David Garfinkle, Martin McCallum, Marvel Entertainment and Sony Pictures Entertainment. In addition to co-producing the show, Hello Entertainment is arranging all financing for the project.
While the Spider-Man musical marks the first time a Marvel character has been the subject of a Broadway show, it's not the first time a superhero has hit the stage. Superman was in the spotlight of "It's a Bird, It's a Plane, It's Superman," which opened at the Alvin Theatre in 1966. Despite fairly positive reviews, it closed a few months later.
Before becoming Marvel chairman, David Maisel spearheaded the 1999 best musical Tony winner "Fosse."
Taymor won two Tonys for direction and costume design for the Broadway production of "The Lion King."

Wait - like a musical?Well, they're doing it with LOTR in London this summer...
Yeah, I don't remember this... probably around eight or nine at the time.and remeber there was a big idea that they would do Batman with music by Meatloaf in the late 90s
But HOLY CRAP I would pay so much to see a Batman musical. That's just too hilarious to pass up.

I saw the pics of "Joker" last night....
All I can say is that if THAT'S how the Joker's going to look (I don't think it is, but who knows?) then Chris Nolan is the next Joel Schumacker!!
It could just be HL walking on the set, I guess.... Probably is, in any rate.
........................... I hope!!

You can’t just have your characters announce how they feel! That makes me feel angry!

Great!
Good how they get all the cast back together...wonderful for the series.
Radcliffe is getting too old, but not much that can be done about that and I'd prefer them to keep the same kids.
The effects this time around look very cool (we watched the US teaser on the front of the Happy Feet DVD last night in our home theater and...wow!) and somehow less "showy".
Fiennes as He Who Must Not Be Named (!) is staggeringly horrific. Just as he should be!

How odd!
That's a white balance/color contrast test, so why would they 1) put that out, and 2) make what looks to be a poster of it?
If this is official, it's still been leaked since I'm sure the first WB-authorized pic would be of him in some kind of dramatic situation.
Then again, the first images of the new Batman and Superman weren't very inspiring either.
If that's the final Joker look, put me down as a "meh".
