The Croods really surprised me. The setpieces and creature designs are amazing. The advertising and even intro was super misleading though. It made it seem like the movie was going to be about Eep and sort of like a caveman Brave. But the movie was REALLY about the Grug, the dad and his personal journey throughout the movie.

You can’t just have your characters announce how they feel! That makes me feel angry!

This also explains why Croods is getting a 4K release soon.

It's not bad. Plus you get ryan reynolds as a caveman.

This looks really fun .. and -- despite a similar premise to Aardman's Early Man -- looks to be a different 'flavor' from that film, and from the first Croods. :)

I do always wonder about how much DNA is shared between The Croods and Early Man, considering that DreamWorks and Aardman were working on that Crood Awakenings project before the split, and then both came out with caveman comedies...

Although both The Croods and Early Man essentially started as the same project, they're actually markedly different movies, both story- and character-wise.

One odd 'similarity' between them is football.

The fact that the Early Man cavemen invented football (soccer) is that movie's major story thrust, of course .. while the caveman family in The Croods is shown in one intense sequence to 'hunt' their daily prey in a manner akin to (american-style) football -- complete with marching-band 'fight music' for the soundtrack!
