Just got back from seeing Wolverine. Is it redundant? Perhaps. Is it bad? Not at all. I, for one, was thoroughly entertained throughout and a lot of that comes down to Hugh Jackman. The man is Wolverine. He understands what makes the character tick and brings it across on screen very well. Also very good was Liev Shrieber (sp?) as Victor. He totally outdoes Tyler Mane in every scene he's in and even resembles the character physically, as if he were born for the part. I would have liked to have seen more of Gambit, but maybe they'll bring him back in a future X film. If the film has a weak link, it's the opening scenes, which feel a bit rushed. If they'd adapted more of the story from the Origin miniseries, it might have enhanced the story a bit. Overall, I was impressed and if you're a fan of the previous trilogy, you should enjoy this one too.

Not very much. She has a moment to shine, but it's very brief, like the Colossus cameo in X2.

Also, she's a cute "new recruit" teenager, in an ending designed to set up "First Class"...
After Generation X, the comics set up the "diamond" retcon to bring Emma in to fill in for Colossus's absence, and as they won't get into the Hellfire Club storyline (we've already had our Phoenix movie), there likely won't be any plotline to turn her bad.

...Darn, she was always one hot mama as a sub-villainess.

If she is included in First Class, I hope the writers keep the triangle between her, Jean and Scott. That was one of the more interesting aspects of Grant Morrison's run on the comics.

In other movies IMO he's makes a different and out of character Wolverine but I haven't seen this film yet so maybe he's in character in this movie.

I gotta say, "Wolverine" was a bit of a letdown. Not to say that it was terrible or anything, but it could've been so much...better.

Wolverine was good. There is nothing I considered new or ground breaking in the film and I don't feel it raised the X men bar so don't go expecting to be blown away but it was entertaining and certainly a great edition to the X-flicks.

I felt the cast was one of the best put together for an x-men flick or any hero flick for that matter. Wolverines brother is chilling, Victor is very well done, wolverines women is excellent, even the breif character appearences were all awesome, I really really liked the blob. So maybe to contradict myself the movie certainly raised the bar on casting.

I am not very knowledgable of the X-men universe so please take my opionion in that context.

I saw Angels & Demons yesterday and I must say it was very well done. I've not read the novel yet, but the film presents an engrossing mystery with a twist at the end that you won't see coming. The Da Vinci Code was good, but this one is better. I think everyone involved should be proud of themselves for producing such a fine piece of work. I'd give it four stars out of five.

Meh, I didn't like The DaVinci Code at all.

I'm a bit skeptical of the new one, but I think I'll see it anyway, as I thought Angels & Demons was the better of the two books.

The popular line seems to be that A&D was the better book (I also felt so, having read it after TDVC). But apart from the page turning TDVC was a terrible book and film, in which very little happened, but the critics seem to be hating A&D a little less than its predecessor. I may likely see this, but only because I might be able to sneak in for nothing.

I think the major difference between A&D and DVC is that in the former, Dan Brown just wanted to tell a good story and in the latter he was trying to prove something (within a fictional context, but still) and it didn't translate to film as well as it should have. As far as what he was trying to prove, my feeling is that any evidence that would conclusively prove or disprove his claims is long gone, lost forever. All that's left are ideas and if the church feels so threatened by an idea, it makes me wonder if they really are trying to hide something and maybe Dan Brown figured out what that something might be. Just my speculation.
