Doodles™ wrote:This movie looks so cool. That little cockroach guy reminds me of "The Fly", is that possibly a little homage to classic monster movies?
The whole movie is an 'homage' to 1950's sci-fi/monster movies:

Dr. Cockroach, PhD ≈ The Fly
Missing Link ≈ The Creature from the Black Lagoon
B.O.B. ≈ The Blob
Ginormica ≈ Attack of the 50-Foot Woman
Insectosaurus ≈ a 'mishmash' of giant monsters from films like Tarantula, Them!, etc.

And, of course, the alien-invasion/U.S. government war-room 'schtick' is likewise inspired by several sci-fi movies of the 1950's .. Earth vs the Flying Saucers, The Day the Earth Stood Still, War of the Worlds, This Island Earth .. I'm certain the 1950's 'references' will be flying fast-and-furious, throughout the film!

Luckily, though, Monsters vs Aliens looks like it will be great fun, whether those references are 'gotten', or not .. :)

Very true, I never thought about that.

Welcome doodles.

We generally don't quote the entire previous message if you're responding to it directly below, so I removed your repeat of droosan's message.

Please bear that in mind when using the AN&V forums, thanks! :)

Hi Doodles! That's a beautiful avatar. :)
You can’t just have your characters announce how they feel! That makes me feel angry!

I agree Daniel.

Here is a brand new (very amusing and cute) poster for the movie.

My Kung Fu Panda review seems to go against the grain on the reaction to what we've seen so far on this one:
