From what I gather they actually sold quite well, Mermaid supposedly the better of the two!

Why do they always make Cindy's hair the wrong color for these covers?

Re: Cinderella: Platinum Edition Discussion
So The Lion King and The Little Mermaid had 4K restorations but not Cinderella and that's why we have no Cinderella (1950) 4K?
I think the reason the comparison video doesn't have the laserdisc is because it's restoration was the same as the VHS's? But the DVD one was the same as the Blu-ray, so they should still include the laserdisc!
And yes, some people have said that they were told by Disney representatives that this release will have a correct restoration!

Re: Walt Disney's Cinderella
I find that a wee bit hard to believe. Those representatives are as clueless as we are. They almost always receive info the same time as the general public. And can they really be that crass as to say this will have a 'correct' restoration? That goes against what some (including Disney) said about Diamond Edition.

Oh, they didn't say "correct" restoration. They said "new" restoration. I just knew it would be getting a new one to be more correct.

Disney are aware of the miscoloring on the Lowry cleanup, so if there is a new restoration (even if from that original 4K scan) then it should fix those issues. *If*...

The Disney Store is offering four free lithographs when you pre-order. (plus a coupon) What's interesting is these are different from the usual kind Disney offers. Usually it's just artwork from the film, but this set also includes concept art and Mary Blair prints! Pretty neat. Although I think they could've picked better alternatives for the Blairs, there are some gorgeous pieces by her. Slightly tempting, just not enough for me. Plus, I already have the lithos from the Platinum release.
Something tells me you already know all this and have already ordered, right Duster?

Yes, Daniel, I knew all about that and thought it was so unusual, too! And yes, I ordered that version already!
By the way, the Platinum and Diamond restoraton didn't just botch colors. It erased detail:

Here's one review. Same transfer as before, unfortunately. Not surprised. Here's a video review that touches on the "In Walt’s Words" bonus:
That alone nearly justifies a double-dip.

Yes indeed, double-dip worthy form that! But it's double-dip worthy to me all the time anyway...

Not only as a completist who would lament a gap in my Signature discs, but I did plonk down the dosh for this basically for the enhanced commentary mode. I really liked the one they did for Bambi and this looks like more of that goodness.

I fancy it when you slip in some Britishisms. Such fun!
Take it the site wasn't offered a screener or is someone else getting the privilege?

No screener this time. Disney seem to have been cutting back, especially on reissued catalog titles.
