NBC's live Peter Pan

Post by Dan » July 13th, 2014, 3:49 pm

Due to the apparent ratings success of last year's Sound of Music live broadcast, NBC will be doing another one this year. The subject this year will be Peter Pan. What I like about this is who they just cast to play Captain Hook:

Christopher Walken!

Loved this news when I heard. He'll be great, and it'll be nice to finally hear the original Broadway score for the stage Pan, which I only had on a cracked vinyl LP...!

Where is Chris Walken!? Okay, so it's him but did they have to make him look so much *not* like him? Mind you, Allison Williams doesn't look like her either.

I *am* liking the design, though...it seems even though this version of the original stage musical won't adhere to the Disney film in terms of songs or alternate story, it will bear a passing resemblance visually.

Additional cast members were also announced, including Taylor Louderman (Bring It On: The Musical) as Wendy Darling and Christian Borle (Smash, Legally Blonde: The Musical) as both Mr. Darling and Smee.

Rehearsals began this week with producer Neil Meron taking to Twitter to posting pictures.

Okay, I know I can't be the only one who thinks this looks like a rejected one sheet for Hook...

Heck, it even looks like Walken has the exact same wig that Dustin Hoffman wore in that movie!

First look footage of everyone performing in costume and on set. As expected, Walken's bits are awesome!
