This is a really interesting, very objective book about all the different versions of Superman in Hollywood, with lots of in-depth info, particularly on the abandoned versions.

KATE BOSWORTH
Oh my God, that’s insane.
KEVIN SPACEY
What, the fact that it will bury the United States underwater, killing millions?
KATE BOSWORTH
No, the fact that this is almost the exact same stupid scheme you had in the first movie. You were going to kill a whole bunch of people to drive up the value of land you owned then, too. I can’t figure out if this movie is a sequel, a reboot of the franchise, or a remake of the original.
.SAM HUNTINGTON
Oh no! If only Superman were to suddenly pick today to return to Earth and rescue Kate from mortal peril.
BRANDON ROUTH
Good lord, how has this woman survived without me for five years?
that was really funny .

Oh no, I didn't write it (wish I had ) but I posted it from the Editing Room website, which I've often done in the past.
On the Indy thread, James linked to the Abridged Indy script, which is awesome too.
EDIT: I was answering Once's question on whether or not I'd written the script, but he edited his post after realizing it wasn't mine.

Oh, thank heaven. Warner Bros. is finally conceding that Superman Returns was a botched misfire, and will reboot the franchise:

We will never have to consider a deadbeat dad Superman and shacked-up Lois again!!!

Oh wow....I can't believe it....they're actually saying it out loud, and admitting they need to start again....whoa.
This is very good news.
So strange though....when the franchise gets re-booted, and a great Superman film is on the way...Singer's 2006 film will no doubt be looked at by critics as an extremely misguided, odd, standalone film (and not in the good sense) in future years.
So, I guess that whole "Man of Steel-Wrath of Kahn" thing is history now....?
I'll say it again--wow. From the way they referred to Singer, it seems like they DEFINETELY don't want him again. (Especially considering all the money he blew on that movie. )
Can't wait to see who the new director will be...I actually think Ron Howard might be a good choice, (one of my fave directors) but that's just me.

Oh, boy. Don't get us all started agaoin! Just read this thread.Once Upon A Dream wrote:Why? what was so bad about Superman Returns?.
But in short: You're allowed to like this movie, but my Superman is not a detached, alien Jesus who gets a woman pregnant and then leaves FOR NO REASON AND NO EXPLANANTION for five years. The premise is just atrocious, never mind the execution.
Also: lifting a kryptonite continent and carrying it into space, dour tone, bad casting, kid with on/off powers... the list goes on and on.

Well,I just wanted to know why,I haven't seen the other Superman films (Or maybe I did, just forgot) so I can't compare them to Superman Returns.Randall wrote:Oh, boy. Don't get us all started agaoin! Just read this thread.Once Upon A Dream wrote:Why? what was so bad about Superman Returns?.

It doesn't matter if you've never seen another Superman film, really. I can't think of another incarnation of the character that missed the mark as badly as Superman Returns, as much as it tried to emulate the Reeve films. Even if you knew nothing about Superman going in, the whole premise of the movie still doesn't make a lick of sense.
