Guess ol' Triton is a misogynistic mermaidiser that gets about, then, eh?

Try to "fix" one can of worms by opening a whole crate of them…

You're just thinking too hard. It's a fantasy. :)

Yeah, I’m not bothered by it. They’re mermaids. It’s not a big deal to me.

They're ignoring real world genetics but preserving ethnicities. It just boggles the mind.

Yeah. We’re not thinking hard at all. It’s just dumb, mermaid fantasy or not.

At least we know what’s happened to Ariel’s mother now. Clearly Triton is pining for a son and keeps swimming the seven seas looking for a partner that can give him one. When that doesn’t happen — seven times! — he kills them and moves on to the next one.

Yeah, *now* that’s thinking too hard! But it makes more sense! :)

It kinda nullifies the 'It's set in the Caribbean' argument people were making about Ariel.

I'd like to say I'm gonna avoid this movie but I'm not. I'm watch it for the songs cause of a Menken loyalist. I'll get annoyed at the new songs sounding like every other song Miranda has contributed lyrics to, be impressed by the fuller sounded orchestra for the score. But end up listening and watching the original.

Flounder is the perfect example of why sometimes adapting an animated character to 'real life' just doesn't work.

Having said that, the new clip has boosted my interest although I'm still wary of what they decide to do with Kiss The Girl and the extra 30 minutes of story. Hopefully, this will be more like Aladdin than Beauty and the Beast. ie I won't want to throw things at the screen. And it already looks better than The Lion King ie it has life and won't bore me to sleep

Funny, pretty much the opposite for me, with this sucking out the enthusiasm. Some of the CG looks a step back, Ursula is just a pale live-action copy of the original that doesn’t seem to bring anything new or different to her role, and having been a little won over by Ariel here I found her flat and one-note, and bland in her line readings.

And, yeah, they needed to caricature Flounder a bit. It’s all fine and dandy having a "realistic" fish, but he *is* a talking fish, so at least exaggerate it a bit and keep things more animated! It surely can’t be as bad as B&TB and TLK, though, can it…?

I think Baily has a lovely, spirited voice, but she sang Part of Your World all wrong. She emphasized all the wrong words, plus Ariel sounds about 25 when she’s only supposed to be 16. :?

(Also the song is way too slow; she seems much older because she’s basically “mulling over” how much she loves this world; meaning way too calm to be an impassioned, restless teenager.)

“Teenagers…you give them an inch, they swim all over you.”
You can’t just have your characters announce how they feel! That makes me feel angry!

I don't think she's going to be a teenager in this movie.

She emphasized all the wrong words…
And this, in a nut shell, encapsulates the entire range of Disney live-action remakes. They emphasize all the wrong words. :)
