Pretty much--
Amazon and Hulu never had cable channels, so they believe their movies are "movies", while ex-cable networks like Disney or HBOMax believe they're just shifting their product over from the dying technology to the new one.

Although, in Disney Channel's day, we'd be too used to seeing original movies on direct-video releases, while something like "Beverly Hills Chihuahua 3" or "Sharpay's Fabulous Adventure" wouldn't look a hair out of place as a Disney+ Exclusive.

(Remember back when it was just a contractual obligation, over the fact that they had to get Artemis Fowl and live-action Mulan in theatrical release somehow, during the Lockdown? )

Won’t be for everyone, and it’s predictable as heck, but to keep the food analogy going it serves up exactly the meal you thought you were going to get and leaves you perfectly satisfied, even if very little actually surprises you. It’s dark but fun!
