Re: New Disney Streaming Service: Disney+
That’s not good. I’d understood that the whole NorAm region getting blitzed was as a single marketing assault. I have no real idea of how in-your-face the US saturation is, but maybe they’re hoping some of that will simply bleed over the border? Pretty bad planning, though!
At least you have a launch. There’s not even a hint of getting it here...yet...

I've been seeing commercials out the wazoo lately. Mainly Disney owned channels, but other channels as well.

It does make me wonder just what Canada will be getting. We may have more Disney-owned films tied up in Netflix deals, etc. than the US does.

Downloads will leave if a title is pulled from the service. Gasp!

Whoo-hoo! Finally a date...glad it’s not next November, as was being rumoured here. I guess even "Brexit" can’t crush The Diz's Euro-plans...! May as well have made it April 1, but that may have been a little *too* obvious!
Also, as a follow-up to the next video that plays there, "will Netflix survive Disney+?"... I don’t think it’s just D+ that will affect things, obviously. AT&T will take all their WB content (like Friends) away for HBOMax, or H-BOM as I call it (did no-one think of that in marketing!?), and the Britbox service just launched here, meaning pretty much all the BBC content (that also licenses other UK channel stuff to the States) will vanish from 'Flix as well. Plus the other streamers will take their content and fairly soon all they will have left is their original content and limited offerings from other deals. So Netflix will become Amazon Prime, in other words, but without the delivery options. Talk about your own success coming back to bite you...

No, Amazon will try competing directly with HBOM, just like they've been competing with HBO, period. Netflix will just become MORE international imports, true-crime, standup concerts and creator-indulgent third-party kids's shows.
Although whether it's possible to be more indulgent than Netflix/Warner's celebrity-producer-laden "Green Eggs & Ham" series is up for debate.

Tomorrows the big day! After months of discussion and speculation Disney+ will finally, officially, launch. I give it an hour till the servers crash.

Geez, it IS tomorrow! Still waiting for the app to appear on my Apple TV, but I guess it will show up in a few hours. Hopefully I can get up early enough to give it a try. Look like it's launching at 5am my time.

I'm one of the lucky (?) Verizon customers who will have access to Disney+ for 'free', via an unlimited data plan (which is mostly used by my younger brother -- but which I pay for, and share) .. however, I'm in no hurry to check it out.
I've no doubt the service will have 'growing pains' .. particularly in its early weeks.
/no, not the sitcom
//that's owned by Warner Bros
