To Cheney or not to Cheney - new internet cartoon

Post by i_cartoon123 » May 23rd, 2006, 1:17 pm

Holla!

I work with a bunch of artists and animators and we come up with whatever catches our fancy. Check out our new political satire - THE PRESIDENT OF THE FUTURE. Whether you love or despise Dick Cheney - this animation is worth a watch.

Please check it out at: http://www.thenursery.tv/president.html

Do leave me some feedback

I seem to remember seeing this posted before too. I did a search though and couldn't find it.

"Cartoons, Copyright, and You Tube"

Post by Josh » July 8th, 2006, 1:07 am

As you've probably discovered, You Tube hosts - or used to host - a large variety of hard-to-find cartoon shorts. Nonetheless, many of those shorts, including several public doman ones, have recently been pulled from the site.

With that said, I think some of you might be interested in this article from the blog Mayerson on Animation: http://tinyurl.com/h99cq. Discovered by Cartoon Brew (http://tinyurl.com/gmp2o), the essay supposes why people post the cartoons on You Tube in the first place, while also proposing what the site and studios can do to make money and please animation fans at the same time.

Due to its nature, I didn't feel as though the article should be posted on AN's front page as news. However, it's still worth a read, in my opinion. I think it gives some nice food for thought.

Your right. It is worth a read.

Mark Mayerson makes a good point when he says this....
Furthermore, even if a cartoon is available on DVD, its presence on the web could be used to draw attention to it. That's called marketing. Or a website could supplement it with new material, such as discussions of the work of the animators, the art direction, etc. In business terms, this is referred to as "value added." Bloggers are increasing the demand for these cartoons by adding information about them for free, and copyright holders are complaining?
It's a touchy subject though. I mean they are legally in the wrong but morally right.

YouTube videos can be really crap quality. So this is where the studios could come in and use this to their advantage by saying..
."Well you've seen the video in really crap quality. Want to view it in better quality? Buy it here."

Disney have the right idea by putting their old animations on iTunes. I wish iTunes could also host videos not in the iPod format.

If people are going to do this, they should be clips only, or watermarked.

If you want the proper original, in good quality, buy the official DVD.

Stuff that shouldn't be out there...shouldn't be out there! :)

Hmmm, I wonder if Disney is going to pull Runaway Brain?

Wow, the Internet brings up so many thorny legal issues.
You can’t just have your characters announce how they feel! That makes me feel angry!

If they know about it, they will pull it, and that goes for any studio.
