Love your avatar, LizzieL. Unico!

Yes, the memoriam segment was a travesty. Didn't like the music, and the timing was way too fast.
Unico was a firm favourite of mine and Ben as kids. We were constantly getting it out from the video shop. Not sure I would revisit it now tho...

I don't get them choosing such an up tempo song. Ok, it doesn't have to be sad, slow, morose but that was ill-judged.

After the bizarre 'In memoriam' section - just read that it was faster than usual because they chose the song first then sped through the pictures to match up with the tempo. I'm not entirely sure that's really a good enough explanation for what was nothing short of bonkers.
Wait, they actually SHOWED an In Memoriam? (I bailed early, while the pregnant woman was still going on, and only clicked in and out of curiosity for another half hour.)

If they could actually show film clips, despite the lack of a giant screen at Union Station, why did they not show any for the NOMINEES, instead of doing that "Your performance inspired me..." Testimonial shtick they abandoned ten years ago after it kept dying on stage?

At least we have a pandemic to explain for why no orchestra to play off the speeches after two minutes, and letting them go on for five...
In memoriam so so quick you couldn't read half the names. Was shockingly bad.

I really didn't like the testimonials and the cameras focused on the nominees with fixed smileslooking fairly uncomfortable. Bring back the clips!!

He got back in. :) We didn’t have too many technical hiccups, and when they did it was easy just to log back in. I only got bounced once in the whole night, and once when my iPad ran dry when I didn’t see the battery running low after being distracted by Will Smith's Rock Gets Socked episode…

I find it a little bit ridiculous that Dune won every award that would certify it as a masterpiece in any cinematic aspect, yet they give the Best Picture award to a film, which admittedly not a bad film, but looks and feels like a TV movie. Yes, it won Best Adapted Screenplay over Dune, but I'd say that a good screenplay is not a necessity for a good film. And honestly you'd expect that the Best Picture is the best in most aspects of a film, not just one.

P.S not to mention the way Denis Villeneuve was snubbed of even a nomination for Best Director.
