Don't see how they're acting anything like that. Black History Month wasn't even brought up in any of the promotion. There's a new "Celebrate Black Stories" Collection so naturally it would be included. I believe the main reason they added the film this month is it coincides with the death of Whitney Houston. Disney tends to go all-out when they can get the original stars to reunite.

I think a Black History Month release is much more likely than a Whitney Houston death anniversary release! Not something many would even know the date of and not something they would probably even want to commemorate!

Surely if they were doing BHM with a Hammerstein connection, they’d go the Carmen Jones route...?

I would assume BHM would involve their 90's Ruby Bridges TV-movie, but wasn't sure whether that was already on the site.
Is there some nationally marketable ethnic holiday that would let them bring back Make Mine Music?

Not unless there’s a National Hilbillies Day, but I'm probably not as well placed to know about that. Do the Martins and the Coys get celebrated?

Sadie Hawkins Day, maybe? It comes from the Li'l Abner hillbilly strip.

Re: New Disney Streaming Service: Disney+
Mmm...5.99 to 7.99 next month? Looks like we may let our D+ sub lapse when it comes around in April then. We're not getting that much use out of it, really, and I pretty much have most of all the old 20th stuff I might look at on disc. Like I ever have enough time to watch many shows anyway! Unless they do a year-long 60 or 70 quid renewal deal, I can’t see paying 80, especially as they reached their 2025 sub goal already and are just, basically, being greedy. Reward those that were in from the start and will keep their sub if the deal treats them fairly, or start to see a lot of drop off and turnover subs.

And yes, the DMC has already started marketing Coco and the Book of Life as a double feature.

James mentioned that bundle last year so that's nothing new.

A bundle does not a double feature make.
