Oh, no probes! I thought I’d missed an earlier posted link when it redirected. Thanks for the fix!

Re: Looney Tunes Golden/Platinum Collections
Contrary to what Jerry wrote on the announcement:
According to this review most of them are the HBO masters, aside from "Beanstalk Bunny" and "Catch as Cats Can". That's slightly disappointing. Still very much worth getting, but could've been little bit better.Jerry Beck wrote:And with it a group of first-time-on-blu-ray, restored HD Warner cartoon classics – not the same restorations from HBO-Max and MeTV: an upgrade.

What was wrong with the H-BOM versions? At least they will still look like *film*!

Re: Looney Tunes Golden/Platinum Collections
Great review and explanations! I think what’s happened is that Jerry was privy to the two cartoons that got a ground-up resto, and presumed that would be the case going forward.
Honestly, a bit of tweaking on opening titles, and done fairly consistently, is the least of the worries that could have happened given how many of them there are and how many hands they have been through in regards to television (AAP, etc), Blue Ribbon reissues that lose the original titles completely, or even the 1.85 crops of the 80s and 90s…imagine if any of those editions were the only ways for the negs to survive!
Every edition from the original first cinema showings onwards have had their own artefacts and anomalies to them. At least these are clean, accurate to a degree, and as faithfully reconstructed and/or restored as currently possible, unlike what seems to have happened with the Superman cartoons…

Thad can be an opinionated curmudgeon, but he knows his stuff and he wrote a great, thorough, and balanced review.

Indeed…and "brave" of Jerry to publish it, given that he’ll want to be staying in with George and Warners.

Re: Looney Tunes Golden/Platinum Collections
Nice idea! The toons are listed on the back of the sleeve but this gives the directors and years, which is good. Shame the real sleeve couldn’t have been double sided and have the same info on the left hand side, but this be a decent enough backup.
