At the moment it hasn't happened in Australia with my quick search. And if this is the path Disney plans on going for the public to watch their products at home, then they really should not be removing titles from Disney+

That’s weird…

There are seemingly more Disney movies turning up on regular network TV here in the UK than for a very long while. Beauty And The Beast (the proper one) just played on the BBC here on a Sunday afternoon, The Lion King (the proper one) has also played recently, and the good old Talking Pictures classics channel seems to have tapped a bunch of 70s live-action titles: despite owning the DVD for years I finally caught up with the bizarre Adventures Of Bullwhip Griffin there (Walt never really made a "bad" film, but that one took quite some slogging through!), and they’re slowly making their way through a bunch of other titles from the era, both primary and obscure. Some of them aren’t even available on D+ here!

Adventures of Bullwhip Griffin was from a book by Sid Fleischman, whose children's books have a taste for old-fashioned Mark Twain style tall-tales.
70s Ron Miller may not have had the subtlety to translate his stories in spirit, but he's still worth reading.

Considering it was one of Walt's last, from 1967, Miller had nothing to do with it (yes, I know I said 70s, but that’s been the majority of them on TPTV). Griffin was just such a chore, though. Absolutely no magic at all, and the end was just pretty stupid, and then just stopped. Ah, well, at least I've seen it now. Always been curious.

No time travel saves for those who die in the x-men 97 series. They are dead. Ouch.

Very, very sad to see this on Sky this morning, but did have to keep shouting out that Chitty is NOT a Disney film! ;)

Ironically, we picked The Slipper And The Rose to show for our Wednesday movie night this week, and I wrote my email blurb yesterday afternoon and showed the trailer last night. Woke up this morning to this news, which will make our showing all the more poignant, though a fitting tribute as I know he was very proud of the non-Disney work "the Boys" completed.

Personal hero, and a real reason for why I write the kind of projects I write today. It's rote and cliche to say people that have reached the ripe old age of 95 "will be missed", etc, but he was still going and contributing to projects and documentaries, and certainly he and his brother's music will live on forever.

RIP, RMS. A very sweet kiss goodnight indeed.

Happy 90th birthday, Donald Duck! :D

New short short from Mark Henn, his swan song for the Disney Studios. :) :(

Loved how they used Ducky Nash for the voice and the music library for the score. Plus this feels much longer than two and a half minutes, which isn’t a bad thing!

As usual, nothing’s "perfect-perfect". ;) Ending the title card with the end of Pluto's theme may feel "odd" for longtime fans with deep cut concentration, but I did like picking out and being reminded of where the other music came from, and it all fits and sounds authentic (I know have Lady And The Tramp bouncing around my head now!). And my one missed opportunity would be the lack of Donald springing into his signature "put 'em up" fighting cycle, which he could have done toward the lamp stand at the end.

Still, this is much nicer than that Mickey through the ages spot, and only the too-clean digital finish takes away from it feeling like an authentic film experience. Although going for the late 40s/early 50s Donald model, it did feel like Tony Anselmo's 1980s variation on that model, not that it really matters.

This was a very nice little surprise and a pretty great little short!
